I must ask the Pakistanis here, who is a liberal and who a leftist especially in context of Pakistan ?
I am. I use the term anarchism, as Mr. Chomsky defines it, for my beliefs pertaining to economics and markets. I see marxism as a branch of anarchism, and I view Marx's dialectical materialism as among some of the very useful lenses through which to view the world, among which, although not strictly political lenses, are Freudian psychology and evolutionary biology. However, I have little affiliation or sympathy for visible marxism in Pakistan; a lot of it is tainted with ethnic nationalism, and though I passionately champion self-determination and devolution of power to local governments, I often find the underlying bigotry of such movements not to my taste.I must ask the Pakistanis here, who is a liberal and who a leftist especially in context of Pakistan ?
Labels are free, anyone can assume one or have one thrown at them.

@Joe Shearer
Care to share your economic credo?
Well, if one assumes a label then one must justify it but I see that in case of Pakistan the label of "liberal" is throw at anyone who doesn't fall into the category of the holy mullahs or the ultra-nationalists.
1. What do you mean by Marxism ? Is your description different than for Communism ? How are you connecting "Marxism" with markets ?
2. About the ethno-nationalism maybe the leftist thought associated with it is because the leftists use it to spread leftist thought in their local region and it is only that local spreading that becomes visible to other regions in Pakistan either by chance or because of propaganda by people who what to defame leftism.
Actually in Pakistan most of our prominent liberals are just wealthy people who don't like others opinions. thats all thats required to be liberal in Pakistan.
I've yet to come across a prominent Pakistani liberal who is tolerant of others views. It does not surprise me though, regardless of labels Pakistani people tend not to be tolerant of others views.
.. especially when it's your landay ki communism...
I understand Marxism as a set or ideas that are both descriptive and normative. Dialectical materialism is an example of the former and communism of the latter. One or the important concerns of anarchism, and of Marxism by extension, is to regulate markets in a manner that prevents capital from harming small enterprises or economies so that the working class remains in control of the means of production. This also prevents the accumulation of capital, disproportionate private wealth, and political power.Well, if one assumes a label then one must justify it but I see that in case of Pakistan the label of "liberal" is throw at anyone who doesn't fall into the category of the holy mullahs or the ultra-nationalists.

OK.
LOL.
What is this word "Landay" ? I have heard it before in the interview of the Pakistani Socialist the "Leather Jacket Girl" Arooj Aurangzeb when the interviewer asks her whether she bought her jacket from a "Landay".
You clearly feel strongly about communism, you seem to include it in almost every conversation.
