Pakistan Observer

According to media reports, the military leadership has taken a decision, in principle, not to meet the visiting UN mission that is here to have first-hand information on the issue of missing persons especially in relation to Balochistan. The military believes that its viewpoint has effectively been put across during meeting of the delegation with Defence and Foreign Ministers and therefore, there was no need for allowing meetings with the top leadership.

Whatever, the underlying cause, the decision of the military, if persists, would reflect aspirations of people of Pakistan who are viewing the visit with skepticism and concern. The anguish of the people was also reflected by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security during its deliberations on Thursday when it took serious exception to the visit and decided to summon both Foreign and Interior Ministers to give briefing on the issue and respond to various questions including the one as to who allowed the visit and for what.

The decision of the Army leadership is a step in the right direction and in line with its tradition of safeguarding and upholding the supreme national interests at all costs. But there are some fundamental questions pertaining to the visit of the UN team and as the debate goes on the authorities concerned should also answer those questions. Who and at what level a decision about inviting the delegation, as the Government claims, was taken? Whether all stakeholders were taken on-board and the decision was taken after going through different aspects of the issue? What actually was the mandate of the team? Reaction from different stakeholders show that the visit was unwelcome and this being so the question arises as to why the visit was not opposed before arrival of the team in Pakistan. Instead of making it an issue during the course of the visit, the most appropriate thing would have been to restrain those who had decided to allow the visit as it was known weeks before that such a permission has been given. We also hope that the Parliamentary Committee on National Security would make all aspects of the issue known after getting briefing from the concerned ministers.

I can't understand why those peoples never visit to Phalistine, Kashmir, Iraq, Libyia, Afghanistan etc......where the world's largest human killing is happening, and peoples are being killed like Insects.

Actually i know the reason why didn`t they meet with them ...... they came without dollars ... so they refused to meet them no other reason than this .......................

To UN, the missing persons are more important then the already dead ones and the ones which are being killed as we speak and the ones which are going to be killed in the near future.

They're here on request of GoP. That's another ploy to put Army and SC on it's knees... remember SC was showing red ears a month ago on this issue to Army and other security agencies, but when the cases were heard, SC went low profile on the issue since then... GoP is just trying to bully Army and SC on this, nothing good would come out of it.

When you continue to send bad message to the world, you tarnish your reputation. Once you have bad reputation who cares if you are right.

Examples Pakistan tarnished its reputation.
1) For one month did not admit Kasab was its citizen.
2) Protested against killing of Osama.
3) Jailed the doctor who helped killing Osama using filmsy courts.
4) Refuse to act against terrorist in NW.
5) Openly gave asylum to Kandhar hijacker in Pakistan.

The list is endless.

The logic that I should shelter the criminals of a enemy country is wrong.

Interesting points...so by showing "good boy" attitude by accepting all such demands means "do-more" or "NO more" demands? Indeed "the list is endless."
