Enterprise software?

These days not much competency is required in software development unless you do high level design related work. Nowadays everything is available in the internet. If you get stuck somewhere while coding(happens to everyone) just look up in the internet. Those who graduated at least 10-12 years ago and made it to the industry were really competent though.

Govt should reduce taxes on IT industry to increase exports.

New IT companies should get a 3 years tax break.

I would not put it that far. it is easy to look up coding snippets on the internet. I am not opposed to googling for solutions. if you cannot read the SDK documentation it does not speak highly of the software engineer.

Yeah. Understanding documentations and figuring out what problems/limitations can occur requires some knowledge and high concentration.
