Many Pakistanis seem to lack self initiative, they elect and tolerate these corrupt parties and leaders. In a nation of 170 million certainly one should be able to find "a few good men" and women, wise men and women, quality leaders, people of integrity, and more. It seems Pakistanis are just kicking back and waiting for good things to happen, hence my point lacking self initiative. Can't the Pakistanis ignite a righteous movement? Are there any selfless Pakistanis capable of leading and governing? Considering Pakistan brands itself as "Islamic Republic" one would think society is full of the righteous, of course corruption exist everywhere but the point still stands.

Are Pakistanis waiting for Allah to miraculously fix their problems?!

I think Allah is waiting for Pakistanis to fix their problems! You have a nation, military, land, tools, and other things what is lacking is the will and dedication in the people. Pakistani people must do more, they must do more in the next decade than what was done in the previous two decades or more.

Pakistanis get your act together.

.
You know countries like China (Survived Cultural Rev), South Korea (Third world country a few decades ago), Germany (built itself after WWII), Russia (recovers from collapse of Soviet Union), and even the United States (stock market crash 1930's), and Israel (fleeing persecution, build cities out of deserts) all faced tremendous challenges head on.

In spite of these nations having many differences they all have one thing in common and that is the will of their people their dedication their self initiative is what led them to success. These countries didn't wait for good things to come, rather they endeavored and developed.

Pakistanis must wake up, become educated, become a professional, do more and develop your nation.

.
All good points, but this is something that Pakistanis must tell themselves. I don't think they will take kindly to lecturing, especially from someone who flies the flag of the thread poster.

No offense intended to anyone.

Why i have singled out this one line is because whilst your posts are passionate, they are missing one major factor:

The average Pakistani is too busy worrying about where is next meal will come from and if he can afford to buy the medicines for his family or keep a roof over their heads.

The "Educated and Professional" cadre and the establishment as a whole are yet to fully understand the effects of negative brain drain and the lack of investment in talent and resource.

And whilst the present government has started a Farcicle "Program to return highly skilled Pakistanis to the nation and reep the benefit" the majority of "higher tier" resource is still busy ogling foreign jobs and opportunities.

That being said the country has still to see any real gains from "remittance from abroad" as India did back in the early 90's. One of the major issues is the complex and rather dubious system of Hundi which further impacts on such remittances actually reflecting on the national economy.

The lack of investment in industry, infrastructure and vocational training further hamper's economic growth and market investor confidence.

Consider the fact the despite SMEDA(Small And Medium Enterprise Development Authority celebrating it's 12 year in operations the current trends and growth in the SME sector is poor at best:SMEDA - Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority

Coming back to the Education factor, when you have programs like Chevening and Fullbright swallowing up local talent in the name of "enlightenment" and "exchange" you have a terrible mix.

Just recently one of Pakistani's up and coming non-scientist was gobbled up in the name of "research and exchange". Another major issue is the lack of motivation for expatriates and overseas Pakistanis to return to Pakistan.

This is again because of the factors of lack of investment in people, infrastructure, job security, and in many ways "social security". The flood's have made a bad situation worse with a large sum of the population food insecure coupled with loss of lively hood and homes, it is a complex and very fragile situation.

I am sure despite the foreign observers lambasting of our country, no world leader would like to be the captain of this ship at the moment.

Now if that all sounds like doom and gloom, well never fear. Because the average Pakistani is still caught in the endless cycle of his or her struggle for daily survival whilst our Anglophile cultural, financial and educationalist elite go to and fro in their air conditioned bubbles oblivious to the strife and suffering around them.

Oh the irony Mr. XYZ shops at Beverly centre for a Rolex watch for his son worth 100’s of thousands of rupees, whilst just down the road Mr. ABC is busy scrounging a living selling baked pulses on his street stand….

People say Pakistan need's more education, Pakistan needs more development... I say yes but what it need’s first and foremost is for the pompous decadent elite of our society to awaken and “DO MORE” for a country they have helped bleed dry.

Our country was built on the selfless scarifies of every man, women and child. What we need more than anything is a renaissance, perhaps these self-centred, egocentric lot should take a leaf out of books of lore, of those brave pilgrims who braved the blazing heat, the raiding marauders with only the clothes on their backs and the Belief… the Belief of establishing a new world.

Bring back the belief and you will bring back Pakistan.

in this case i think "nerega" can be helpful for pakistan...
in this govt have to employ labours on the wage of 100 Rs/day.... even if govt is failed to give them work, wage will be given to them

this scheme will prove success if corruption is not there

Yes some form of social security would be a good thing. But the bigger question where to get the cash from? More taxes, can't do that without scaring away investors or pushing the public over the brink.

So perhaps a CSR initiative with socially ethical companies?

We elect these leaders and then we are by all rules of democracy suppose to tolerate them for the tenure they had been elected.

Its simple 63 years is not enough a period to expect perfect system with regard to anything.

i personally believe we have got matured to some extent atleast here in my province our people have given chance to parties of all colours including religious ones to secular ones and trust me we do know the ones who work for progress of public get filtered with every election

Why OP is ashamed to be Bangladeshi? I thought significant portion of the Muslim world does not recognize Israel.

You have a point, personally i could't care less which flag someone files. I have and always will be proud to be a Pakistani, even now when Pakistan is viewed by many as a pariah state, me and many others like me are resolute regarding the true worth of our nation and it's importance on the global stage.

Pakistan is but a diamond in the rough... All it needs is a jewel-crafter to cut and polish it... Then watch us Shine.

Forum displays 2 flags, 'Home Country" and "Current Location". Israel is not his motherland.
