Pakistani Taliban leader 'killed' - Central & South Asia - Al Jazeera English


Pakistani media has reported that a senior military commander of the Pakistani Taliban was killed during a suspected US drone attack earlier this month.

The GEO TV news channel on Friday cited intelligence officials as saying that Qari Hussain died after a US missile attack on October 2nd in the Datta Khel area of North Waziristan.

Hussain was reportedly an expert in preparing suicide jackets and training bombers to carry out attacks.

Drone strikes are carried out in Pakistan's tribal areas on a near-daily basis as part of a covert US operation against Taliban fighters, although the United States never admits to carrying out specific attacks.

A suspected US drone killed at least four people in the Mir Ali district of North Waziristan on Friday evening, according to Pakistan security officials, while a similar attack killed at least three others in the region earlier in the day.

Security officials said a Taliban compound was the target of the attack in Mir Ali, while the morning strike hit suspected fighters in the village of Machi Khel.

TTP’s top gun Qari Hussain ‘killed’

PESHAWAR: The alleged ‘master trainer’ of suicide bombers, Qari Hussain Mehsud, is reported to have been killed in the October 4 US drone attack in Mirali town of North Waziristan.

However, Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan contradicted reports about Qari Hussain’s death and described it as part of a campaign to demoralise its fighters.

“Qari Hussain is alive and healthy and will soon contact the media,” one of his associates told Dawn correspondent Sailab Mehsud on phone.

He said that ‘infidels and their agents’ were spreading disinformation to demoralise Taliban.

There are two different accounts of the October 4 drone attack.

According to one report, Qari Hussain was injured in the attack on a house in Mirali in which eight foreigners, including German militants, were killed.

According to intelligence sources, those killed included Qari Hussain, known as Ustad-i-Fedayeen (teacher of suicide bomber), and his two guards.

They said that Qari Hussain, who was sleeping in the house, was severely injured and taken to Miramshah where doctors amputated one of his legs and he died there.

According to another report, Qari Hussain was hit in the attack and he died on the spot.

It is not the issue that the source is reliable or not If He is killed ,this is a good news
