Likewise Pak Army is still not able to get rid of TTP completely-

Ansarul Islam has also fought the Lashkar E Islam and clashes continue in Tirah valley regularly, mostly on the Khyber side. In this attack the majority of losses were taken by Ansarul Islam. No operation has taken place against Ansarul Islam in history. It is speculated that Ansarul Islam is part of the ISI's policy of forming militant groups to target militant groups albeit unsuccessfully. For example Haji Akhunzada and a lot of his commanders were killed in the past.

Ansarul Islam has claimed that it is against the Taliban and is fighting against militancy. Their chief was attacked in Peshawar (how did he get there: police sleeping? ) in a bombing by Lashkar E Islam while 2 activists of it were later killed in a car bomb too in the same city.

But there is no way to figure out if that is true. In an interview with PTV Mangal Bagh also came on TV and claimed he wanted peace with the government and the government was troubling him for no reason. LEI too rejected TTP's offer to join the larger amalgamation of militant groups in Tirah under umbrella group Tehreek E Taliban Pakistan. These clashes could be proof that TTP is trying to woo Lashkar E Islam, scratch that-it could be proof that the 2 are finally working in conjunction. Pakistan army tried to attack LEI before and it may have pushed them into the arms of the TTP.

According to Akhunzada’s son Khan Taj, the family had been living in the area for four months and had been receiving threats because his father “was helping the government against extremist group Lashkar-e-Islam (LeI)”. The LeI, led by Mangal Bagh Afridi, is active in Khyber Agency where Akhunzada’s group also operates.

I believe the Akhunzada group may be part of an attempt by our military to weaken the Lashkar e Islam and Taliban. If this is so being known as a militant group despite working for the government, losing valuable members of family and lots of innocent people including many women (for example in the suicide bombing on akhunzada) is a big price. Most Pakistanis don't really know about the war on terror and various groups before they comment.

Reports from northwestern Pakistan say clashes between two Islamic militant groups over control of a valley near the Afghan border have killed at least 24 people.
Pakistani officials say a gun battle erupted on January 26 when fighters of the militant group Tehrik-e Taliban Pakistan captured a base of its rival group, Ansarul Islam, in the Khyber tribal region.

Ansarul Islam fighters then tried to retake the base located in the Tirah Valley, with fighting continuing into January 26.

Most of the dead were said to be militants but some local tribesmen were also reported killed.

The remote Tirah valley shares a border with Afghanistan and leads to the plains of Bara, which connect the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to the outskirts of Peshawar.

KHYBER AGENCY - Thirty-two militants of the Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) were killed in a clash with pro-government volunteers of Ansarul Islam during a gunfight in Maidan area of tehsil Bara, sub-division of Khyber, officials said on Saturday.

Assistant political agent Nasir Khan said that clash started when Taliban militants stormed into a base of AI in the wee hours of Friday and capture the base. The AI fighters retaliated to regain the base and both groups targeted each other with heavy artillery.

AI spokesperson Sadaat said the TTP militants had been targeting masses in the area and therefore the AI rose to root them out.

Twenty-one volunteers of AI were killed in the standoff while 32 TTP militants were killed and three were captured, he added.

Maidan, Tirah valley is located on the West, 70 kilometres away from Bara and militant groups are engaged in armed clashes to get hold of the territory.

Separately, three of a family were killed in a mortar strike on Saturday in Bagh, Tirah Koki khel area of tehsil Jamrud, officials said.

According to officials, a stray mortar shell fired by unknown location landed on the house of Anar Baig, killing him, his wife and son.

In another incident, a man was killed in a blast in Malagori Khugakhel area of tehsil Landi Kotal when he was sitting outside his house.

Clash between TTP, Ansarul Islam enters fourth day

LANDI KOTAL: The clash between Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and Ansarul Islam (AI) militant groups in Khyber tribal region’s Tirah valley area near the Pak-Afghan border, entered its fourth day as the death toll reached 58 on Monday.

Six militants were killed during the latest clashes. Those killed during the fighting could not be identified till the filing of this report.

Numerous militants sustained injuries during the clashes.

Local political sources said that both sides resorted tot he use of heavy and sophisticated weaponry during the fight.

Fierce clashes erupted three days ago when members of the Tariq Afridi faction of the banned (TTP launched an attack in the Bagh-Maidan area of Tirah valley on Friday, capturing a building belonging to the, perceived, pro-government AI militants.

The Ansaarul Islam militant group had gained some ground against Taliban earlier on Sunday.

It is irrelevant who wins or loses this battle. Both groups endorse violence as a means to their objectives. The only loser will be the people in the region.

If you have no idea or knowledge about the situation then no one needs to hear your bullsheet on this topic... AI are actually from kukikhiel tribe which are locals of khyber agency...If they have willing put on arms against TTP then how come they are loosers... Next time dig deeper..
