Pakistani Startup Gives Surveillance Tech Superpowers with Artificial Intelligence
By Ammar Sheikh
Surveillance technology has gotten very far but a Pakistani startup is working on making it more powerful with artificial intelligence capabilities and the company is offering services in nineteen countries.
Deutics is a Pakistani artificial intelligence based startup providing different AI and image processing related software in nineteen different countries and empowering the traditional surveillance systems through cameras using AI.
Deutics solutions provides automated surveillance and monitoring system that goes beyond security in the traditional sense. It provides solutions that can keep an eye on every single person within the premises of warehouses, industries, malls, offices and banks to maintain a higher level of security.
According to Deutics, the system is capable of recognizing the organization’s own personnel, can track unwanted behaviors, counting the number of people anytime within the premises and much more.
What sets them apart is the low-cost solution it was offering as it does not require additional hardware, not only making it cheap to deploy but also does not require huge infrastructure changes for organizations.
It says, “Deutics is adding the power of Artificial Intelligence and image processing to the existing security solutions so that these traditional systems can be automated to take the decisions on time rather to just gather the evidences”.
The software system provides people detection and tracking system to improve surveillance and monitoring within premises, automated number plate recognition and vehicle classification solutions for improved management and security of vehicles. Other solutions of Deutics include software for forests of Sweden and Germany and coronavirus protection software for United States.
The best part of these solutions is that they could be used with any type of existing cameras of any brand, while also keeping the prices very low for Pakistani customers.
Currently, Deutics has nine team members, which include image processing, artificial intelligence experts along with web developers, app developers, graphic designers and video animators. The team is also expanding with Deutics starting a recruitment drive to bring more experts in.
The team behind Deutics says that their short-term goal is to capture the Pakistani market first in the next ten months. Moving forward, the team wants to expand to different markets by opening offices in different countries. However, Deutics has its work cut out for them as they say that one of the biggest hurdle for them is the lack of awareness about technology in the Pakistani market. They say there is a lack of awareness about artificial intelligence but they are working on educating people about the power of AI and how it can help them move forward in this era of technology.
