Pakistani mangoes lose markets to India,China.

. . .
the main threat is obviously china.

india and pak politicians are to dumb and greedy to know otherwise

.
Dont know about other places, but in Dubai, it is pakistani mango everywhere.

Went to the fruit market yesterday, and all the people were gathered up at the pakistani mangoes! I myself brought a crate. And have been eating them since then, first thing to do after Iftar, eat a mango!!!

I usually buy stuff from Lulu--they stock a lot of Indian mangos. Its personal bias---its not comparable to what i get when I'm home--but reminds me of it just the same.

I would love to taste pakistan mangoes but hey i guess they are not available in India

.
with new facility at Multan Airport and having recently secured American market i'd say we wont be far behind

silly to compare size....Pakistan mangos are a niche product.

only issue is, our exporters suck at quality packaging. Packaging matters, its part of the marketing

Its not really about politicians, its the lack of infrastructure. The Mango growing regions of India are also the most underdeveloped ones (UP, Bihar). Being very far from the sea ports, and lack of cold storage and treatment facilities mean the harvest rots by the time they d reach the ports by train/roads.

So most of the mangoes from this region is exported to Nepal and Bangladesh. We need to improve the infrastructure and connectivity from these regions.

I went to Lulu once, but the mangoes were really terrible, no aroma or taste or anything Dont know about their place of origin.

Since then, i go to the Fruit and Vegetable market, near the Union cooperative housing, on the outskirts of Dubai (kind of wholesale market), and there, you get quality stuff.

Completely agreed.

The packaging here is the good old crate. Some wooden planks tied down, and a piece of newspaper wrapped around the mangoes!

. . .
This year a lot of mangoes arrived at nearly full ripened stage. Somebody screwed up big time by not exporting them on time.

But anyway, taste-wise there can be no comparison.

Where do you buy your mangoes from?
