Pakistani is shining in every corner of the globe and two women Salma Zahid and Iqra Khalid living in Canada are going to represent the Liberal party after winning seats in Canadian elections 2015 held on Monday.
“Scarborough families tonight voted for real change,” Salma Zahid said as many gathered to celebrate her victory. “I will work hard to deliver the results they deserve.”
She reclaimed Scarborough Centre for the Liberals by beating the Conservative incumbent Roxanne James who was elected in 2011. She focused mainly on transit infrastructure during the campaign and emphasized on employment and moving to repeal the Conservatives’ Bill C-24.
Salma Zahid, a mother of two moved to Scarborough with her family 15 years ago and has since been working as a senior adviser to the Ontario government on health care, infrastructure, citizenship and tourism.
On the other hand, Iqra Khalid succeeded in unseating Conservative incumbent Bob Dechert in Mississauge-Erin-mills in a close match where her opposition was not voted heavily due to their anti-Muslim agenda.
Meanwhile, the Liberal leader, Justin Trudeau led his party to triumph in a federal election on Monday, surpassing Stephen Harper’s Conservatives by a massive margin.
