A Pakistani was arrested for allegedly possessing a kilo of heroin worth Rs 5 million in Central Colombos Grandpass area by Excise officials at Orugodawatte, on Monday night, The Island reported.
The drug smuggler, who posed as a journalist covering international crime for a news agency, had been engaged in the business for a long time.
Suspect identified as, Tufail Muhammad, had travelled to Colombo over 20 times and had been a frequent traveler.
Though he is a resident of Lahore, Pakistan, he had been staying in Panadura at low cost lodgings, while supplying heroin to the market.
The suspect was accused of masterminding a heroin distribution operation in Colombo.
