Pakistan will split if PPP hurt: AJK PM
KHARIAN AJK Prime Minister Chaudhry Majeed has said that declaring India as most favourite country for trade wont hurt Kashmir cause, and warned that Pakistan will be disintegrated if excesses were committed against the Pakistan Peoples Party.
Addressing a gathering at Dera Kair on Saturday afternoon, he said Pakistan Tehrik-i Insaf Chairman Imran Khan, who was saying that the MFN status would delay Kashmir issue resolution for 10 years, was not spokesman of Kashmir. He alleged that Imran was issuing such statements at some other powers asking. He said Kashmiri freedom fighters were struggling for past 65 years and the struggle will continue, but added, We dont want to sow seeds of Barood (explosive material).
The AJK PM alleged that Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) President Nawaz Sharif was nurtured by the military dictatorship, adding that there was no hope of betterment from him. He also criticised Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz for its demand of early elections, saying that partys own chief minister in Punjab, Shahbaz Sharif, even dithered on holding elections on just four poling stations.
He said that Pakistan Peoples Party gave sacrifices and Dera Kaira was the place of Shaheeds because Chaudhry Tauqir Shaheed gave his life along with Mohtarma Benazir Bhutto. He vowed to campaign bare-footed from Khyber to Karachi in next elections for the Pakistan Peoples Party. Chaudhry Majeed went on to say that Pakistan will be dismembered if excesses were committed against Peoples Party.
This statement of the AJK Prime Minster is being seen as part of anti-Supreme Court campaign launched by the Pakistan Peoples Party leader Babar Awan after the apex court took former prime minister Nawaz Sharifs petition on memogate scandal. Chaudhry Abdul Majeed also sparked a controversy in Kashmiri and Pakistani community in the UK after backing a motion in AJKs legislative assembly against Lord Nazir Ahmed, declaring him persona non grata which political observers see a blow to Kashmir cause as Lord Nazir has been raising his voice in the upper house of the UK parliament for Kashmiris.
The AJK PM, during his visit to Dera Kair, also announced development funds of Rs5 million each for the constituencies of the defeated candidates and Rs5 million for the welfare of migrated Kashmiris. He admired ex-Kashmir Affairs Minister Qamar Zaman Kaira for his special attention towards AJK and also praised PPP district president for their election campaign of AJK elections.
The Federal Cabinet has given India the status of Most Favourite Nation (MFN) by declaring that government policy on Kashmir would not be changed, arousing ire of the people, especially traders.
People from various walks of life have been protesting against the government, demanding withdrawal of the decision as it will affect the national economy.
Former AJK prime minister and President of All Jammu Kashmir Muslim Conference Sardar Attique Ahmed Khan has also opposed the MFN status to India, fearing a deep-rooted conspiracy on the part of India to cripple down Pakistans economy altogether through this move.
According to him, India is working on multi-dimensional strategy under the garb of bilateral trade. The government should take all the stakeholders into confidence before moving ahead.
