Chairman Joint Chief of Staff Committee Gen Rashad Mahmood on the invitation of Sri Lankan counterpart Jagath Jayasuria will visit Sri Lanka on a four-day schedule from 7th April to 11 April.

As per Daily mirror, During the visit Gen. Rashad will meet top political and military officials of Sri Lanka and will deliver a lecture ‘Pakistan’s Security perspective’ at Defense Services Command and Staff College, Sapugaskanda, Sri Lanka.

Moreover, Pakistan CJCSC will also visit Sri Lankan military academy Diyatalawa, says a Sri Lankan newsoutlet.

The visit of the top Pakistan military official is of utmost importance, as it will strengthen the political and strategic cooperation between the both countries.

Sri Lanka spokesperson Bridgadier Wanigasooriya has said that this is the first visit of Pakistan CJCSC and it displays the cordial relationship between both the countries.

It should be noted that Pakistan is one of the countries that gave full support to Sri Lanka at UNHRC session in Geneva.

Hopefully, this will lend towards closer defense cooperation between both the countries. And, hopefully, pave the groundwork for signing of a defense deal or joint venture.
