Pakistan to Seek Continued U.S. Funds to Combat Terror

.
Gopal Ratnam working as a snake that he is.

ISI may have been supporting certain groups previously, but Pakistan Army stance now is to eliminate all terrorists including Haqqani network.

Of course the author will fail to mention this. At least the author threw a bone to blokes at Georgetown University by mentioning their book for bias and useless (outdated) commentary.

It is the responsibility of the American citizens to flow in aid for this operation after all the enemy that was created initially was with the same tax money.

Webbie????? Nooooooo. How can u say that? Taking money from Amrican? The same Amrica who is planning to destroy Pakistan?

So confusing some Pakistanis are.

Don't confuse a Pakistani with a Pakistani, you will end up as a confused Indian.

There is no double game, certain groups weren't to be messed with as to not inviting more enemies. That is no longer true.

Petition your senate rep, see what the response is. pakistan has had significant contribution to "Taliban", i.e the Afghan refugees and pakistani tribals recruited from the madrasas of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam to aid Mullah omar's offense against Kabul in 92-94. US also had created leaders like Ahmed shah massoud, who was ultimately assaisinated with ISI's collusion, leaders like Dostum whose people saw genocide under Taliban with blessings of the ISI.

Pakistan has been largely responsible for taliban, and it is a welcome measure that the stance is changing.

I'll throw you ANOTHER zinger....we should have NEVER invaded Iraq !! For what ? That kook Sadaam kept all the other kooks in line. If they were really that unhappy with him, they should have whacked him out themselves.
Did you believe that in 2003, or is it a recent change of opinion.

If thats da case then why is Hafeez Sayeed banned by US and UN? He is nowhere related to the 'certian groups' u talking bout.

I am really sick of all these Muslim country leaders asking for help. Either make do with what you have and invest in your development or get the fck off the position and let some competent person lead.

Pretty stupid if you to say that ... You do know tht mullah Umar was also a muj commander n fought against the soviets right? And there was no Kabul in 92-94 but a civil war was tagging with several warlords messing sht up. Umar rose to fake when the ex muj.. Imam raised arms against a warlord to sodomised and killed a little boy.. It was after tht when ppl became his followers.. The Tajiks, hazaras n Uzbek minorities hated the Pakhtuns ...
According to a former Pak ambassador Pakistan tried to negotiate between Pakhtun supported Umar n ANAs massoud ( who was killed by alqaeda not Taliban ) ...

As for the bs about genocide and Dostem the turd hated by the Pakhtuns n tolerated by the Americans ( they had no choice ) is accused of war crimes n a former warlord ..

Go read abt it .. Fuxs news is gettin to ya.

Dear,

You might want to brush up on siege of kabul, by taliban which had military advisers from Pak Military. Ahmed Shah Massoud on record has stated multiple times that Taliban has active pakistani military personnel embeded, which ironically was actually beaten by Massouds' forces against overwhelming odds before they evacuated to Panjshir valley. The alleged AQ scums who assassinated massoud posing as reporters, brokered the interview from peshawar. It is hard to believe that it AQ did it by themselves as ISI had tried quite a few times in the past and failed at similar attempts.
Pakistan: "The Taliban's Godfather"?

As far as civil war is concerned, according to amnesty intl, it was during 95's siege of kabul, when civilians were being targeted for the first time with rockets and mortars by taliban.

Please read the following reference

Document - Afghanistan: Further information on fear for safety and new concern: deliberate and arbitrary killings: Civilians in Kabul | Amnesty International

Saying that, let me reiterate, that I highly appreciate Pakistan's offensive towards taliban, and I hope they keep continuing the effort. But there is a need to delineate Afghan mujhadeen's from today's taliban. Soviets left kabul in 89, that was 25 years ago, an average mujhadeen of 20-30 year old today is nearing retirement age, and most taliban fighters are not mujaheddin vintage. These new breed have been a product of pakistani military elements tacit support (with or without the collusion of the government) and thus expecting US tax payers to do the cleanup seems highly unreasonable.

This is just my opinion and I appreciate your take as you are more aware and closer to the situation. but honestly do you think pakistani establishment had nothing to do with rise of Mullah omar's taliban?

Knowing what we know, the Arab population would have overthrown him themselves by now (the so called Arab spring). Also, people did try and take him out, but they he ended up crushing them. He was facing multiple rebellions after the first Gulf war, but credit where credit is due, he not only kept Iraq together (by crushing the rebels), he rebuilt almost all of it's infrastructure within a short span.

Hindsight is 20/20.

The ****? You realize that he posts youtube videos, and he's clearly white in them, right? Damn, racist much? What's wrong with east Asians? Hell, refugees in general aren't bad people either.
