"You wanted me to shoot the helicopters down, on their way back to Afghanistan (which took part in the OBL raid!!!) There was a large packet of US Fighter jets in the air on Afghan side of the border to attack, if the helicopters were attacked."

Exactly that's what the PAF Air Chief at the time said on the television. And I was gobsmacked that how this coward is made PAF Air Chief.

If he was so concerned about USAF and their jets attacking Pakistan. He should have atleast kept quiet rather than issuing such cowardly statement.

That statement meant that PAF is incapable of protecting Pakistani Airspace. Why he stayed as Air Chief!!

The shame of it is that he survived after making such comments.

Remember, the Helicopters (including 2 Chinooks) were in Pakistani airspace for over 40 minutes after the raid. While PAF was sleeping. Even the journalists were up and either were already in Abbotabad or making their way to Abbotabad.

2) Another Block 52 sqd upraded to "V" standard - Pak Pay
3) 18 surplus B/S upgraded to "V" - US Pay

5) Release engines for T-129 for Turkey
6) AIM-9X and AMRAAM C7 and JDAM package - Pak pay
7) Spares for P-3Cs - Free
8) Upgrades for TPS-77 ground radars - Pak pays

Essentially all of the above are only key US supplied assets we should care about, just current ones, no new equipment types.

2 - Duty free access to Pakistani products in Pakistan

Buying anything that has maintenance and spares dependency on US will not be beneficial for us in longer run like we saw in F16 saga. We should know that we aren't going to get tier 1 products from US anymore. China and Russia will be our suppliers for that.

Agreed, and we are slowly getting rid of American equipment shackles, ultimately China and Turkey will be key defence suppliers, but until then and certainly for the next 20 years, F-16 will be a core part of Pakistani defence. No harm in making sure we get US to make these as leathel as possible.

I content that PAF / PA / PN would have put up a great fight full of Valor but the end results would have been same as Iraq, so why pick that route ? it's not cowardice to live and fight another day as dead don't fight back or fight at later days.
