Pakistan should be taken out of bloodshed, led towards peace: TTP Punjab
By Web Desk
Published: February 8, 2013
Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) Punjab chapter has maintained that Pakistan should be taken out of the ongoing violence and led towards peace, Express News reported on Friday.
In a statement, the group welcomed political parties’ positive response to the peace talks offer and said that it should not be taken as a weakness.
The statement added that the US and India have gained influence over Pakistan which is harmful for the country.
It further said that the Tehreek welcomes every step which leads the country towards peace and prosperity.
The TTP had earlier expressed its willingness to enter peace negotiations with the government if three senior politicians – Pakistan Muslim League (PML-N) chief Nawaz Sharif, Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Jamaat-e-Islami amir Syed Munawar Hasan – acted as guarantors.
On Thursday, Nawaz advised the government to take the offer seriously and immediately start the talks. Fazl had also welcomed the Taliban offer.
