KARACHI: Pakistan has sent a formal reference to British government against Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) founder for inciting violence on August 22, spokesman for the interior ministry said Tuesday.
The reference against MQM founder was sent by interior ministry.
The spokesman said Pakistan has also given evidences to the British government pertaining to anti-Pakistan speech by MQM founder and inciting the workers for violence.
According to the reference, Altaf Hussain not only violated Pakistani laws but also British and international laws on August 22.
The interior ministry, in the reference, urged the British government to take action against all those responsible for inciting the public to violence and creating a law and order situation in Pakistan.
At least one person was killed and several others injured when MQM workers stormed a media house following Altaf Hussain’s speech at Karachi Press Club.
On Monday, DG Rangers Major General Bilal Akbar said MQM unit and sector workers were involved in attack on media house. The attack was facilitated by MQM Labour Division, he said and added that it was a pre-planned act.
However, MQM Pakistan leader has denied it was a pre-planned act.
MQM Pakistan has distance itself from Altaf Hussain after the provocative speech on August 22.
