Pakistan Overhauls FC-1 Fighter Aircraft

The Pakistan Aeronautical Complex (PAC) has carried out overhaul and fuselage evaluation of the FC-1 fighter aircraft also called the JF-17.

“On December 28, 2015, Pakistan held a ceremony of 2015 production delivery of the 16th FC-1 in the 2nd batch and the accomplishment of the first FC-1 fuselage evaluation that is entitled self-production towards maintenance,” the Aviation Industries Corporation of China (AVIC) said in a statement.

From the day when the first coproduced FC-1 rolled out on November 23, 2009 until now, the China-Pakistan’s team has made remarkable achievements, said the statement adding that in 2015, facing the challenge of the 16th aircraft production delivery, both sides finished the task making Pakistan’s aviation manufacturing capability grow up steadily.

“Pakistan carried out the FC-1 overhaul and finished the first FC-1 fuselage evaluation, which lays foundation on the Pakistan’s overhaul,” the statement said suggesting that the future overhaul of the FC-1/JF-17 could be done in Pakistan.

The FC-1/JF-17 is in service in China, Pakistan and has recently been sold to Nigeria and possibly Myanmar. The single engine aircraft is said to have the performance of the US-made F-16 fighter at less than half the cost.

Highly appreciate the dedication and devotion of FC-1/JF-17 Thunder team both at CAC and PAC.Overhauling & fuselage evaluation of JF-17 in Pakistan is Indeed a mile-stone towards self reliance. INSHALLAH JF-17 Thunder would gradually become jewel in the Crown of PAF with upgraded avionic &,AESA,IRST,HMD features in years to come.

Over Haul of Thunder is proposed/carried out on how many hours/calendar days? I would love to see some news which would say that based on first few over hauls they have increased the over haul hours. This would add to increased life and availability of Thunder.

there are no types of overhaul, there's just "overhaul"
the purpose is to bring back the whole aircraft and its components to manufacture limits. Every component is measured and tested to check for compliance to its original limits. The components that are passed get put back on the aircraft, the ones that don't either get replaced or they get sent out for further calibration/"fixing".

That being said i think i know what you're reffering to when you said "type"
There's A-check, B-check, C-check or some larger aircraft like 747/a380 even have D-checks. I don't think that applie to military aircraft though. I don't know how military system works, but my guess is "overhaul" is probably comparable to C/D checks.

Good but when PAF claims JF 17 is at par with US F 16 and half of a price than why they hell they still buying F 16 when u can have two JF 17 in same amount without loosing perfomance
