Pakistan will not expel Afghan refugees from its soil by force, the foreign ministry of Afghanistan has said.

Addressing a press conference in Kabul on Sunday, the spokesman for foreign ministry Janan Musazai said they welcomed the decision reached between the Pakistani officials and United Nations High Commission for Refugees regarding the volunteer return of Afghan refugees to Afghanistan.

"No Afghan refugee will be forcefully expelled from Pakistan. Afghanistan, Pakistan and the UNHCR have reached an agreement in this regard. The Afghan refugees would return to Afghanistan voluntarily. We want repatriation of Afghan refugees from other countries, particularly from Pakistan.

But their at once repatriation may create issues for us," he added.

Five million Afghan refugees had voluntarily returned to Afghanistan over the past 10 years, Musazai said, adding they were striving to pave way for volunteer repatriation of Afghan refugees to their homeland.

Recently some reports said Pakistan would expel Afghan refugees from its soil after 2012. The reports created concerns among Afghan officials and refugees.

The Afghan government has repeatedly said they were incapable to receive millions of Afghan refugees living in foreign countries, particularly in Pakistan and Iran for the last more than 30 years.

The Afghan government is of the view that the repatriation process should be gradual and under the observation of the United States, and that the Afghan refugees repatriate from foreign countries voluntarily.

what has afghan refugees in pak got to do with the consent or observation of united states??

this is another bullshitt from afghan government

i agree all the refugees should be deported and it shouldnt be optional until unless india takes these refugees then refugees have the chance of being in india or afghanistan

the refugees are burden on pakistan so its pakistani will whether to deport them or keep them

why not?
Those who refuse to go without a valid reason such as physical disability or a pregnant woman....should be arrested and deported..

What Afghanistan says is irrelevant. Afghans have become a burden to Pakistan and should be sent back. We should do what's right for Pakistan, not afghanistan.

Every Nation has the right to deport illegal aliens and these Afghans are certainly illegal aliens who have outlived their welcome in Pakistan. They should be deported by force especially keeping in mind the lack of gratitude Afghan government has shown to Pakistan for housing 4 million of its citizens for decades.

i think hamid karzai should take responsibility now, its been 10 years. we should deport all afghans and fence the border, even mine it. we had enough. no need to care for ungrateful neighbors.they have destroyed our society.

hmm volunteer return

it means afghans will never go .....

BTW why not they move to there dear friends?
i mean am sure once Pakistan will be afghans free she will be terrorism/extremism free.
