i am a small town girl from Pakistan, now living in Dubai for past 6 years. I’ve been working for the past several years in the field of HR after having completed my Masters in HRM from University of Glasgow. Soon after graduation, I started working in UK and lived there for few years before moving to Dubai , and now working with an international Airline as HR Remuneration Manager.

My life is a balance of three areas: family, work and myself. Adventure is a food for my soul, I’d really describe myself as an adventure junkie as I’m always up for some fresh dose of adrenaline in extreme sports, but nothing excites me more than climbing. In my free time I love to go for rock wall climbing and hiking. It has been my lifelong dream & passion to be a professional high altitude climber, and reach at the summits of all 8000m peaks one day. My interest in this field developed from a very young age when I started reading about the pursuits of legendry Pakistani climbers to Everest, K2, Nangaparbat etc. As a young teenage girl, I was always more fascinated to heights, climbing related books & mountains instead of other usual girly interests. Unfortunately there weren’t many opportunities or the right circumstances in the past for women in Pakistan to pursue it as a serious profession (or even as a hobby), but times are changing now, slowly but surely.

My friends ask me why do I want to leave comforts of my home and put myself through so much ‘pain’ (as they call it

, but I don’t really have any other answer except that “for the love of mountains”. Mountains are majestic yet intimidating as they test your “essence”, you explore what you are quintessentially made of. It’s a very humble experience to see your real worth, to see how insignificant you are compared to these mighty creations of God. The higher you climb, the more grounded you feel.

That’s why mountaineering and paragliding are my passions. I recently completed paragliding course from ASPT kakul Abbottabad n now time to go for my other passion. This is the best opportunity to start my mountaineering passion under the supervision of Pakistan’s best female mountaineer and of course the cause of this expedition. My love for mountains creating excitement n can’t wait to join this historic expedition and group of brave women. Chasing angels or feeling demons, go to the mountains.

I am Bismah Hassan from Lahore. I’m doing BSc Psychology from Lahore College for Women University. I’ve been travelling to northern areas since one year. It was my first trip to Azad Kashmir last year that poked the hidden wanderer in me that I wasn’t aware of. Since then I started joining hiking trips and each time I wished to travel on higher and more challenging routes. Just like other common people I also have fear of heights, but at same time it is the love of mountains that encourage me to overcome my fears. Remember what Rumi says: “Forget safety. Live where you fear to live
My interest in mountaineering developed as soon as i got to know about Samina Baig. She is my greatest inspiration and motivation. Before that I never imagined that a Pakistani female can get enough encouragement and facilities to become a mountaineer. But I guess, time has changed now and women in Pakistan are finally making their place in this field.
I’ve been searching for mountaineering training programs from months and finally I came across one such event arranged by PYO. Women winter expedition to ‘Minghligh Sar’, under the supervision of Pakistan’s only female Mountaineer Miss Samina Baig, is a great opportunity for an ordinary girl like me who is in love with mountains. Also it’s such an honor for me to be the part of this expedition that symbolizes women empowerment and unity.
Visiting Shimshal (my dream place), meeting Samina Baig, expedition to 6000m peak and first step in mountaineering world. It is no less than a dream. Looking forward to see my dream become a reality..!!

My name is Ariana Dabier Moghaddam. I am an Iranian American woman. I am a teacher and work alongside youth and young adults in the outdoors where I get to be involved with what I am passionate about: youth empowerment and leadership, inter and intra personal skills, the environment and adventure. My journey began with a dream to be able to live my life in a way that invited other women in the world to join me to push their comfort zones and feel like there is nothing they cannot do. I am now so honored to be apart of this all-women’s expedition opportunity who encourage those qualities within me. The mountains are a place that do not discriminate, and is a frontier for the bravery and resiliency in all of us. I cannot think of a better team or place to learn of the kind of mountaineering woman I want to be and I am inspired to give my all in this cause not just for myself, but to perpetuate opportunities for all women to challenge social norms, to organize and unite and to find their power in their passions.

note: there are still four slots available get yourself registered!
