Pakistan may study other fighter options as US asks Pakistan to make full payment for F-16 purchase

Russian are broke they need money, As long as Pakistan pay cold hard cash, they will sell. I think the only delay in getting SU-35 is type of armament and modification Russian are willing to sell or allow Pakistan to do. J-20 isn't matured, neither do F-35 and Pak Fa but these fighters are still ages ahead of non-stealth platforms.

They would loose much more money with the Indian backlash.

Not as simple as that in geo-politics, the reason is the bigger pie and Indo-Russian relations.

would also like to respond to the idle talk and pure invention of the media by reiterating that Russia has not discussed and does not have any plans to sell Su-35 aircraft to Pakistan.

Let me be clear the Russians would sell to anyone who has money you are right but are they stupid? no they know India has the bigger pie.

Only real option here is J 10.

Lets not kid our selves, J 20 is like US's F-22 not for sale to even its closest allies.

Su-35 could have been an option but lobbying and threats to Russia of cancellation of deals from India will have the same effect as it had with F-16s.

J20? I thought it was not for sale

Hi,

India has cornered china into such a position---that every chinese weapon is available to pakistan---.

The reality of being strangulated in the south china seas has hit the chinese real hard---and that is why they came running to offer pakistan with the J10C's last year..

If paf wants the J20's---it will happen---.

The J-20 would have the heavyweight payload and long-range endurance of the Su-35.

India is walking a tight rope with China I agree to a extend the present Modi govt seems hell bent on getting into bed with America. Core issues for China such as the SCS is a real concern to them but what choice do we have? they veto a known terrorist to appease you and now reports are emerging that they are helping you with a ICBM. We can only do likewise and sell weapons to countries in dispute in the SCS such as Vietnam and by our actions hope and I stress the word hope make them realise that actions have consequences.

If we piss them off to much it might be possible that you could obtain the J-20 that is why India must be bloody careful in what it does.

Pakistan if it were to get the SU-35 would be a game changer and scare me a little but they require a whole new infrastructure, training & weaponry on the other hand plus it would be a big dent in Indo-Russia strategic relations.
I don't know the capability of this machine so I can't really comment on it but if national Airforce of Pakistan is a professional entity, it will not be big problem since they have already been operating, US, French and Chinese (originally Russian) aircraft for decades so to integrate another Russian aircraft should not be such a big problem.

New engine which needs less maintenance compared to our MKI, better radar system and improved avionics. Yes but integrating it takes time, you need spare parts and also new pilot training. Pakistani pilots have familiarised themselves with the F16 they like it and know the bird, they trust it.. put yourself in their shoes they thinking why change? I can get brand new F16 they grew up with pictures of this bird on their walls.

That only means J10.

Being an adult in his right mind I'm pretty aware that the Su35 won't ever be sold by Russia to Pakistan and the J20 isn't matured yet.

Russia was offering us SU-27s in the 90S.. Recently they sent T-90MS for trials.. They also sold us MI-35Es... Offered MI-28s.. Held joint naval & army exercises ... Are offering us the newer RD series for JF... Helped us build MI overhaul factory... Among other economic ventures..

There have been talks and rumours about SU-35 since long.. Procuring 2 squadrons won't be an issue .. Who knows the Chinese 35s may end up in Pak..

As for training & infra .. Well my friend .. Happens with every jet... Otherwise India wouldn't even be looking for rafaels... And would be happy with su-30s.

They would loose much more money with the Indian backlash.

India is already diversifying and phasing out bulk of their soviet made military.. And besides its the seller who always has the leverage not the buyer .. You would need to go to the manufacturer for spares, etc .. Even after decades .. Unless you produce it 100% in house.

J20? I thought it was not for sale
Name one Chinese system that was refused to Pak ever?

@DESERT FIGHTER the Russians attach strings to military sales even with China, why you think their present SU-35 deal is taking so long? they were worried about copy right issues and you think they will give authority for third party? that is absurb

Again I would stress a "professional" airforce...A professional force/institution or person does not decide based on personal liking. If airforce of Pakistan is a professional organisation (of course they are), they should have no problem in accommodating and integrating this airplane in their fleet. I think pilots of Pakistani airforce will be excited to fly a new airplane with system as professionals like challenges. And it is possible that this airplane is similar or even better than F16.

Not me saying J-20 but Chinese on PDF I think in the future it might well be

Airforces do and always will have a preference, let me give you a example we operate the French Mirages (we have done for a number of years) when we went for a tender what fighter did we pick? the Rafale and why? we already had existing infrastructure in place, pilot skills and we trusted the French plus we upgraded our Mirages.

Strings ? Like what? China is still their best buddy, largest trade and defence partner .. And despite "copy right issues" .. They have sold em SU-35s? Almost all of Chinese systems in the past were based on Russian weapons .. And yet Russia didnt do anything...

And do you know what? Even Israel sells sophisticated equipment like radars etc to China... Recently a Chinese company was marketing radar based ELM 2052 .
