PESHAWAR: Pakistan lifted the overall trophy of the Bacha Khan International Peace Wrestling Championship by grabbing four gold medals, one silver and two bronze medals here at the indoor hall of the PSB Coaching Center on Sunday.
Pakistan took first gold medal in the 55kg with Azhar Hussain, the Commonwealth Game medalists, shocked Prince Arora of India while Basharat took gold in 60kg weight against Afghanistan promising wrestler Kabi Rahimi.
The third gold Pakistan won in 96kg when Usman Majeed, the Rushtam-e-Pakistan upset Wakeel Hussain of Afghanistan in the medal fight while in the 120kg weight category Muhammad Zaman, the Champion of Pakistan, defeated Hameed Khanzada of Afghanistan to grab the gold medal.
Having 65 total points, Pakistani wrestler Ghulam Hasan was beaten by Afghanistan wrestler Noor Ahmadi in the 84kg weight. Pakistan had earlier recorded victory India wrestler Saibair Singh but failed to click against Noor Ahmadi of Afghanistan and took the silver medal.
Pakistan took bronze medal in 66kg where Indian Visal Sing took the gold medal and Afghanistan Baba Jan Ahmadi took silver medal.
The Pakistani wrestler was also failed in the 74kg where Afghanistan wrestler took the gold medal and India took silver medal.
At the end, the chief guest Federal Minister for Railways Haji Ghulam Ahmad Bilour gave away trophies, medals and cash prizes to the position holders teams, wrestlers and officials. Counsel General of Afghanistan to Peshawar Sayed Muhammad Ebrahim Khail, Provincial Minister for Sports and President Pakistan Wrestling Federation Syed Aqil Shah and hundreds and thousands of cheering spectators were there and witnessed the thrilling fights.
