Pakistan jirga commission to leave for Kabul on Thursday

ISLAMABAD, May 2 (APP): Pakistani jirga commission will leave for Kabul on Thursday to resume the second round of talks with its Afghan counterpart for peace in Afghanistan and in tribal areas of Pakistan.
During the two-day parleys among other the issues of constitution of a grand peace jirga commission and border control will be discussed.
The Pakistani jirga commission will be led by its chairman Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao, while the other member will include NWFP Governor Jan Muhammad Aurakzai, Governor Balochistan Awais Ahmed Ghani, Federal Minister for State and Frontier Region Sardar Yar Muhammad Rind and Federal Minister for Culture Ghazi Ghulab Jamal.
Interior Ministry spokesman told media here Wednesday that the Pakistani jirga commission has finalized the name of persons for grand peace jirga commission.
Pakistani jirga commission will also hold a meeting with Afghan President Hamid Karzai during the visit.
Interior Minister Aftab Ahmed Khan Sherpao told APP that such meetings are aimed at to promoting people-to-people contacts between the two-country.
He said the first round of the talks was held in Islamabad on March 12-13, during which both sides discussed modalities and the timeframe for organizing peace jirgas in the border areas.
Both the sides reaffirmed their resolve to hold jirga(s) as one of the measures to counter terrorism and work for eliminating this menace from the areas affected by it, said the Minister.
He said these discussions on jirgas are a follow-up to an agreement reached between Pakistani President Pervez Musharraf and his Afghan counterpart Hamid Karzai during a meeting at the White House hosted by U.S. President George W. Bush in September 2006.
