E 2 was the perfect aircraft for paf----. Paf had under rated this aircraft---it performed way beyond what paf understood it to----. E3 sentry was too much of an aircraft not needed----. It was one of their many blunders of the 80's and 90's.

PAF may have thought they could do the same with E3/E2 as they did with F16/F5.

I think this is what happened. They got a bit cocky decided that just like they could hold out on 16s and get an approval they could do so with the E3s as well. I do agree that the PAF was immature in its assessment of the relationship between it and the US. The sanctions gave us a rude awakening and we should be thankful to ALLAH SWT that it did. However we have moved on and have matured a bit more in our thinking and acquisitions.
