Pakistan, India urged to sign cluster munitions ban

You must be joking . The why were there so many Military coups my friend.

They were due to the political crisis at that time and another reason was the failure of the politicians and ISI was never involved in the coups, In fact they warned the political Govt that " We are Hearing the Voices of BOOTS from your office ". 111 brigade was involved in all the coups.

Back to the topic of banning cluster bombs. Functional requirement is around 90%. That leaves a lot of unexploded bomblets casuing a lot of collateral damage.

Coming back to banning cluster bombs.... I've seen enough collateral damage with even the "mighty" US laser guided smart as hell bombs!

Countries that don't have any real threats are more than welcome to sign the treaty banning cluster bombs.

On a lighter note.... how about Indian and Pakistan ditch all their weapons and just issue boxing gloves.

The simplest reply to this topic is that treaties and resolutions on disarmament are only applicable in case of small countries(esp African countries) with small arms in the hands of kids.....as these treaties aren't acknowledged by the countries having stockpile of weapons...

If UN wants to starts a new wave of disarmament then they must start from a country which is creating the maximum trouble by killing innocent people...irrespective of its position,whether its a Super power or policy maker of a Super power.

not quite true of state terrorism like the us did in Laos and israel did in Lebanon.

plus, cluster munitions mostly contains a hundred plus (up to thousands) sub munitions/bomblets. however, some smaller types contains as little as three bomblets, which could be fired from ordinary field guns, howitzers, MLRSs (implies that a small "terrorist" or insurgents are capable of using it).

Not small countries, but small countries with no conventional security threats, ie European countries. They have no border disputes or hostile armies at their borders to speak of - they won't need to use cluster munitions anyway. This treaty is just good PR, otherwise it's worthless.

It's because Pakistan is alive today because of Chinese support. As long as China supports Pakistan this heavily (nuke, defence, civilian investment), Pakistan continues to be hostile to India. South Asia would be a much more peaceful place was it not for Chinese powerplays.

Come on...Chinese have there own interests as well.And talking about peace Huh.... India has already invaded all its neighbors.Pakistan provides foreign policy choices to other states in South Asia.You cannot blame an extra regional state for the mess India has been creating in the South Asian region for six decades and continues to threaten regional Peace and Stability through its hegemonic and aggressive designs!

Hey guys i saw on AWC website...that Pak produces cluster bombs...but
some ppl say tht Pak produces american cluster munitions...under lisence ...is it true???
