Pakistan fence to seal off Afghan border

Pakistan is building a fence along a part of its border with Afghanistan to prevent armed fighters from entering the country.

Afghanistan has called the project ineffective and impractical.

Al Jazeera's Kamal Hyder reports from the Pakistan-Afghanistan border in Khyber Agency.

Construction of over 400 small forts, radar installation, increased patrolling are part of plan, says COAS

Gen Bajwa described both Bajaur and Mohmand ‘high threat zones’ which was why, he said, they were being accorded priority in the plan.

- Pakistan was building 423 small forts along the 2,430km-long border with Afghanistan, roughly at a distance of 6km from each other, for effectively border patrolling and monitoring.

- additional technical surveillance means were also being deployed along the border besides regular air surveillance.

- Officials familiar with the plan said that fencing would be done at selective places and it would be augmented by a robust border patrolling, radar and border surveillance equipment.

1) Educate the Afghans and cultivate the historical relationship
2) Isolate the Afghans and suffer the consequences

The Afghans really need to be quarantined if Pakistan wants any peace. At least keep them out of Pakistan.

I am not asking Pakistan to provide Afghans with modern Education. You can wait another 15 years for that. But educating them about their problems and their reality is no doubt needed.

@Talwar e Pakistan This Act with proper monitoring will stop 70% of every thing . Rest will improve with all afghan gone back to there country ........ Yes few will manage to cross but surly after hell lot of work and losing hell more men.............
