Pakistan delivers tough message to Afghan Taliban over rising 'cross-border attacks'

Definitely need a permanent troop presence with a QRF (attack helicopters and fast transport helicopters) to allow overwhelming firepower and hot pursuit in the event of a major attack.

We also need to accept we need a large number of MRAPs so we can push into areas TTP and BLA operate. We need to plan to eliminate them, not give them pockets in which to evolve and reach out for resupply.

We need to accept that we can no longer tolerate smuggling analog the Afghan or the Iranian borders if we are to stem the tide of miscreants and/or the resupply of those already in our country. We also need to build a layered border defense along these two border. The fence is a start, but in case of a massive attack, we need a layer behind which our troops can be stationed to protect themselves and fire upon attackers more effectively.

We should look into a “shipping container wall”; something the Talibs won’t be able to tear down as easily and won’t be as expensive as a concrete wall for the nation to put up. Space 50 meters behind the fence, with a road behind and in front of the shipping container wall, it will allow troops to maneuver without being seen by the enemy, while our troops can see the enemy with the use of observation towers.

There arent many major crossings anyways. In all there are 6 transit/trade crossings of which 2 are the major ones responsible for 80-90% of movements and where all clashes between pak-taliban forces took place.

1. Chaman
2. Torkham

How difficult would it be to station 1-2 attack helis and 1-2 MALE ucavs say 50-100km away from these 2 crossings?

We can also add in a few artillery pieces for each and 4-5 tanks (alkhalids) to each within a few miles.

The strategy would be to start pounding the talirats with 155mm artillery shells as soon as the next hostilities break out. In the meantimes troops, al khalids, infantry vehicles backed by attack helis + drones could be rushed within 30 minutes to respond with more force and overrun talirat forces at both chaman/torkham. Concurrently our air force would be free to start pound targets in afghanistan behind enemy lines.

I have not seen any of this. Dont understand how our generals are promoted to their rank as even a 7 year old can provide a better response strategy than what they have delivered. Talirats hit our posts and we engaged in chicken gun fights on their terms rather than blowing them straight to hell…

I cannot for the life of me understand why there isn't a troop presence in such a hot border. It needs drone surveillance and troops until attacks die down.

Finally something good, I wonder if the recent closure of the Pak-Afg border has something to do with it
afghans on internet are saying it was afghanistan who closed the border themselves to send a message to pakistan lol and pressure them

We really do need to find, fix and destroy any hostile fire. If it is a few posts these posts need to have layers of ISR to detect the first sign of trouble (possibly including having a blimp stationed near each crossing)

With the right guidance from these relatively modestly priced ISR assets, we can use old fashioned 120 mm mortars and 155 artillery to knock out the attackers fast and precisely, with video feeds confirming we hit the miscreants and not civilians.

If they demand Sharia, let us have it. Pakistan was built on this slogan of La Ilaha Illal La. Its already implemented in Iran, Afghanistan and Brunai Dar As Salam. It works better than democracy. It is possible to have assemblies and political parties following the Iranian model. Lets end the curse of interest and introduce gold and silver currency. We already have agreed to it in the Objectives Resolution. The Islamic Constitution developed by Taqiuddin An Nabhani is based on the old Ottoman Constitution.
but whose version of Sharia?
we were supposed to follow it from da 1.
only Mahdi will enforce/bring about the right sharia that is just to all including our minorities & those who are of another faith.

The Islamic Constitution by Taqiuddin An Nabhani is based on Sunni Islam and provides protection to minorities. They will have their own representative councils.

Lapdogs of US threatening the Afghan Talibans who fought with US and got the independence from them.

This isn't even funny.

Senior dirty harry threatened to make videos of them and release it.

Better than sitting down like a submissive cuck and doing nothing.

Either way someone is going to complain regardless of what they do.

You can't even compare US to Pakistan as they have completely different goals.

What we need to do is mine the damned border (anti-personnel and anti-vehicle), all the way; and put a hold on the Afghan Transit Trade which is not only a major lifeline for the ungrateful Afghan but also a big source of smuggling through which we lose a very big chunk of import duties...........in addition, we should severely restrict the border movement and trade with Afghanistan through which a lot of our USD escapes to Afghanistan!

I'm not giving up what little freedom I have just like that.

To me this comes across as weakness being shown by the Pak leadership/establishment. TTP and other groups have been using Afghanistan for a while for attacks in Pak which has led to numerous deaths. The Taleban are also saying you are allowing the Americans to bomb us via drones, it's their way of saying your doing the same. Politically Pak is in a weaker position too they unwound the absolutely not policy so what is left is skirmishes on the border.

If you look at nations who take their security seriously they attack first and talk later. Now whether this is right or not is up for debate but what is clear is Pak is lacking the will to really deal with this problem.

Taliban are laughing at GHQ. They know you are a weak entity and unable to do anything.

One interesting thing I noted is that the new chinese VT1A1 comes with a portable vertical lift helidrone system assigned to each tank. We could use smaller drones within 10 miles radius for ISR and layer it with our artillery/mortar units as you stated. It would also provide precise positions of talirat posts and armoured vehicles.

Its very disapointing to see the pak army doesnt seem to have its head around a proper ORBAT at the afghan border. Decades of rot, corruption, following out dated british traditions (which the british dont even follow anymore) have come home to roost. The neptasism and lack of proper training at PMA is a dire sign that we need reform.

Take a single look at our military parade and many questions come up. Whats with the weird clothing during peacetime? Whats with the weird sticks that every army chief seems to carry? And whats with the knee high march which serves no purpose and can cause major knee damage for our troops? Our enemies must be laughing at us. Other militaries have marches where aggressieness is shown to sow the seeds if fear in the enemyy. Other military geneeals carry around a firearm even during peacetime (israel/taliban) yet here we are in a constant state of conflict and how does our COAS lead? A yellow bamboo stick

All the officers who have studied at pma and adopted such crappy traditions need to be sacked. We need a complete rebuilding of our military starting from the top down. Every single general is responsible for this mess. In other countries soilders join the military as a sacrafice to their country… in pak soilders join for land plots and income
