Pakistan has sent emergency relief supplies for those affected by the landslide in Afghanistan, the country's foreign ministry said Tuesday.

On the instructions of Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif, the first Pakistan Air Force C-130 transport aircraft carrying relief supplies has reached Faizabad, the capital of Badakhshan province Tuesday, Xinhua reported.

The consignment contains essential emergency relief items, including tents, blankets, and water purification tablets.

The landslide occurred Friday when a hill collapsed on a remote village in Aab Bareek area of Argo district in the mountainous Badakhshan province, 315 km northeast of Afghan capital Kabul.

The disaster was triggered by heavy rains.

The toll in the disaster has risen to 2,000.

Very good news. We should help as much as we can.

Afghanistan needs every help it can and, God knows they deserve it. I'm happy that we (Pakistan) could contribute in our limited capacity. Our prayers are with Afghan people. God bless you all.
