Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi has said on Wednesday that Pakistan nuclear programme cannot be limited.

Addressing a joint press conference with Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry, Maleeha Lodhi said that US Secretary of State John Kerry had urged Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to limit Pakistan’s atomic programme. However, she said that it had been conveyed to the US Secretary of State that the proposals which were expected from Pakistan should also be implemented by India.

“Pakistan’s nuclear programme cannot be limited,” she said. “The world should first put an end to nuclear activities undertaken by India,” she added.

Speaking on the occasion, Aizaz Chaudhry said that the world acknowledges efforts and sacrifices rendered by Pakistan in the fight against terrorism. He further said that no other state had acted against terrorism as much as Pakistan had.

The Foreign Office Secretary and envoy to the UNO Lodhi held a joint press briefing yesterday to report on Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif’s meetings with leaders of the world ahead of the UNGA speech.

The premier met with the fresh British PM, Theresa May, Muhammad bin Nayef, crown prince of Saudi Arabia, premier of New Zealand among others.

Nawaz Sharif also convened a meeting with Secretary of the State, John Kerry.

NEW YORK: Pakistan's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Maleeha Lodhi, said on Wednesday that Pakistan's nuclear program could not be limited.

Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry said that PM Nawaz had raised the issue of Indian-occupied Kashmir with Japanese PM Shinzo Abe and also attended a lunch hosted by UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon. He also disclosed that Sartaj Aziz had met with his counterparts from Austria, Switzerland and Japan. In the meeting, Aziz informed his counterparts regarding the abuse of human rights in occupied Kashmir.

"Pakistan's inclusion in the Nuclear Suppliers Group was also discussed during the meeting," she said.

Aizaz said that no other state had acted against terrorism as much as Pakistan had. He said that Pakistan's representatives had arrived at the United Nations with their agenda.

"PM's speech is going to be important," said Chaudhry. "PM Nawaz is going to present a strong case of occupied Kashmir in front of the world," he added.

He also said that PM Nawaz would also speak about Indian involvement in Pakistan during his address.

WASHINGTON: US Secretary of State John Kerry has urged Pakistan to restrain its nuclear programme, State Department Spokesperson John Kirby said on Monday.

“Secretary Kerry met Pakistani Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif to discuss our strong, long-term bilateral partnership and to build upon the US-Pakistan Strategic Dialogue. The secretary commended the prime minister for restoring macroeconomic stability to Pakistan over the last three years and expressed appreciation for Pakistan’s cooperation on climate change priorities,” John Kirby said.

The secretary reiterated the need for Pakistan to prevent all terrorists from using the Pakistani territory as safe havens, while commending the recent efforts by Pakistani security forces to counter the extremist violence, he said.

US State Department spokesperson said that they also spoke about regional issues, including the recent developments with regard to Afghanistan. The prime minister and Secretary Kerry expressed strong concern at the recent violence in Kashmir — particularly the army base attack — and the need for all sides to reduce tensions.

“Secretary Kerry also stressed the need for restraint in nuclear weapon programmes. The secretary praised Pakistan for hosting the Afghan refugees for over 40 years and highlighted the importance of continued respect for humanitarian principles.”

Even if india temporarily gives up nukes what about israel. Even if israel gives up nukes for several days what about usa? After negotiating with other nuclear powers then nuking Iran and Pakistan all guys can reproduce nukes like candies again.No country has previleges which includes usa above others being the sole users of nukes in ww2.
