Prime Minister Syed Yousaf Raza Gilani has said that Pakistan wants a concerted action by the Muslim world for formulation of a comprehensive strategy to counter terrorism in all its forms and manifestations.
He was addressing Islamabad-based Muslim diplomats at an Iftar dinner hosted by him in their honour at the Prime Minister's House in Islamabad.
The Prime Minister said it is also vital to address the root causes of terrorism.
"These include injustice, sense of helplessness and economic and political deprivations".
"As the world has become a global village, we have to propagate the true message of Islam which stands for universal peace and brotherhood".
The Prime Minister regretted that faith has come under increasing attacks in the Western world resulting in recent incidents of Islamophobia.
"This is mainly due to a handful of misguided people who have by their interpretation of Islam made the religion target of our detractors".
He said terrorism has no faith and hence there is need to ensure that the fight against terrorism does not turn into a clash between the West and Islam.
Gilani said Pakistan has been hit hard by the menace of terrorism and the country is playing an active role in the international campaign against terrorism.
"We are fighting this evil as we believe that this in the interest of Pakistan. We remain undeterred in our resolve to root out terrorism from our society".
The Prime Minister unequivocally said that Pakistan will not allow its territory to be used by terrorists and will not be daunted by threats of terrorism.
The Prime Minister declared that Pakistan will always continue to extend unequivocal and un-wavering support to the Palestinian cause.
Pakistan wants total withdrawal of Israeli forces from the occupied Arab territories including al-Quds, restoration of inalienable rights of Palestinian people and establishment of an independent homeland with Al-Quds as its capital. --IRNA
