The Foreign Ministry in Islamabad said Sunday that Pakistan and China will sign several memorandums of understanding during Chinese Premier Li Keqiang's visit to Pakistan, starting Wednesday.

Foreign Secretary Jalil Abbas Jilani said as many as 12 MOUs will be signed, including three linked to the development of the strategic Gwadar port on the Arabian Sea, which China has been managing since February.

According to local newspaper reports, Pakistan wants China to commit to the construction of an international airport at Gwadar as well as improved infrastructure, linking Gwadar port with Pakistan's railway and national motorway at the city of Ratodero in Sindh province.

Another important MOU to be signed during Li's visit relates to the development of a 1,000-megawatt hydropower project in Pakistan-administered Kashmir, which has been hampered by financial and bureaucratic difficulties.

The Chinese premier is also expected to discuss promotion of the Chinese language and the opening of Chinese cultural centers across Pakistan.

Li will arrive in Islamabad on Wednesday for a two-day visit to discuss details with Pakistani President Asif Zardari.

What a degree of conservatism , you are criticizing possible PM of Pakistan who is telling you the real situation they are going to work in. Put blame on Zardari party whose unforgettable corruption brought Pakistan on the brinks of default. PMLN will do what they said and promised in the difficult financial scenario. Just pointing finger not wise but try to understand the situation.

Why should they?
We need to make sacrifices, pay taxes and such.

Yes! but pml-n would not do any tax collection and reforms because the biggest defaulters and fradusters are pml-n league and then how would corruption engine run for pml-n all those delicious INF/WB/Isamic Bank, arabs and the begging bowl.

wat abot the pap lan with I-ran?

Well i hope it goes ahead....

Iranian VP, Pakistan's Nawaz Sharif Stress Expansion of Tehran-Islamabad Ties

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian First Vice-President Mohammad Reza Rahimi and Pakistani political leader Nawaz Sharif, whose Muslim League Party won the last week parliamentary elections in the country, discussed avenues for the further expansion of the relations between the two neighboring countries in different fields.

Rahimi contacted Sharif on Monday to felicitate his party's victory in the parliamentary elections in Pakistan last week.

Sharif headed for a third term in office as Pakistan's Prime Minister after his party took an unassailable lead over its rivals in landmark general elections that witnessed a huge turnout despite Taliban threats and bomb attacks.

During the phone conversation, Rahimi expressed the hope that the two countries' relations would witness further growth and prosperity under the new government in Islamabad.

He reiterated Iran's support for the progress of Pakistan, and underscored Tehran's preparedness to supply a major part of Pakistan's gas and electricity needs.

Sharif, for his part, underlined his countries' preparedness to further expand mutual cooperation with Iran, adding that his government will do its best to promote the level of Islamabad-Tehran relations and keep the two nations' ties as strong and profound as before.

Iran and Pakistan exchange delegations on a regular basis and the two neighboring countries are keen to expedite expansion of their bilateral trade ties.

In March, Iran and Pakistan officially inaugurated the construction phase of a several-billion-dollar gas pipeline project which is due to take Iran's rich gas reserves to the energy-hungry Muslim country.

The project kicked off in a ceremony attended by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad and his Pakistani counterpart Asif Ali Zardari at the two countries' shared border region in Iran's Southeastern city of Chabahar.
