Pakistan and Afghanistan on Thursday agreed to enhance cooperation against terrorism in the wake of the massive military operation by Islamabad to cleanse the North Waziristan tribal region of militants.

Afghan national security adviser Rangin Dadfar Spanta held talks with his counterpart Sartaj Aziz during a one-day official visit.

In a joint statement, the two sides said that the main focus of meeting was on strengthening bilateral security cooperation and the two countries agreed to take action against all terrorists without making any distinction among them and their hideouts on their respective sides.

“The two sides agreed that terrorism was a common enemy and emphasised closer cooperation and coordination at institutional level to deal with this common menace,” the statement said.

The officials agreed to set up a Joint Working Group on Security and also hold a meeting of their officials.

This is something the Taliban fear the most.

Instead of Politician,I would rather like a meet b/w the head of Pakistan-Afghanistan security official's.They will atleast make up a final deal instead of Photo shoot incase of politicians meetings

It will be great if we start working together to counter terrorism. However, we should wait and watch and see what will happen in future.

We should totally work with ANA and GOA in this regard. This is the only permanent solution.

Then why do i see a breakage of communication b/w military/FO and the Security Advisor bhai sb.

They need to stop this behaviour, but i guess thus is what they have retained from US.

It is great to see the regional partners emphasize the importance of bilateral security cooperation. The ongoing clashes with the terrorists on both sides of the border require both countries to remain unified for the betterment of the region. It is no secret that Afghanistan and Pakistan have had their differences in recent times, but at the same time, both nations are trying to achieve same peace objectives on both sides of the border. Therefore, it only makes sense for both nations to combine their strength against those who are working diligently to destabilize the region with their acts of terror. We must remember that Pakistan, Afghanistan and U.S. have all made a lot of sacrifices with regards to our shared peace objectives in the region, and our nations continue to make a lot of sacrifices for the sake of seeing peace prevail throughout the region. At the end of the day, it is in our best interest to work together and negate the threat of terrorism through shared cooperation.

Nothing will change until the PA/ISI stop their covert aid and support to the Afghan Taliban (Haqqani/Omar) who are fighting against the Afghan Government for the past decade with the aim of forming a government there. That's what this war is all about. Counter terror ops can't be selective.

You don't expect the Pakistani establishment to change course at this critical stage, do you? And therefore ANA and the PA joining hands to fight terrorism is nothing but fluff. Their aims and objectives are at opposite poles. The twain may never meet.

nothing but empty balloons ... ANA and Afghans govt will keep TTP as their buddies .. this kind of decision are only for media show .. in real now Pakistan and Afghanistan are not even friendly relationship .. and honestly we dont want any kind so called brotherly relation with Afghans , and also kick those millions of Afghans to their land .. they come here only to get involved in terrorism or give shelter to their brother terrorists ..

First and foremost we should secure the border with Afghanistan. Until or unless this is not done we as a nation can forget about a proper stability.

Only recently it came to light that Pakistan is the largest refugee hosting country in the world....this "open door" policy for muslims driven by outdated notion of caliphate(and arab worship) has taken a serious and severe toll on our country.

Due to the inability of securing our western border many regional intelligence agencies have used this unfortunate shortcoming against us.

Once this is done then the foreign policy of nurturing and keeping these poisonous snakes on our sacred territory should stop. Period. It's high time we learn our reality and look towards the future.

It will be great if they work together, but it's not going to happen. Because all the big rented terrorists have already escaped in Afghanistan to escape the bombing of PAF & ground ops of PA.
