ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) on Friday demanded the government to review its decision regarding Pakistan-US relations, condemning the unanimous passage of the Parliamentary Committee of National Security’s (PCNS) resolution by the parliament.

Citing it as yet another example of the ‘muq muqa’ politics practised by Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman and Pakistan Muslim League – Nawaz (PML- N), PTI Chairman Imran Khan asked, “Of what benefit will this resolution be to the people of Pakistan who have seen over 40,000 of their fellow citizens dead in this US-led ‘war on terror’ as well as faced the loss of $50b in the last four years and seen Foreign Direct Investment dry up?”

Khan, in his statement, also demanded to know what had happened to the principle of “give peace a chance” which was the central part of the All Parties Conference’s (APC) Resolution passed unanimously by all the mainstream political parties of the country.

He reiterated that this new resolution was merely a continuation of making Pakistan play a mercenary role for the US and only the price for this had been jacked up. However, the money that would come would go into the hands of a few and would be of no benefit to the country, he added.

Khan further pointed out that it would cause more harm with an increase in terrorism again, more militancy, greater polarisation within the country and more economic destabilisation.

“The farce of reviving the Nato supply route for non-lethal goods will sustain the US war in Afghanistan as all Nato supplies are for their military’s sustenance and war effort against Afghanistan… PTI would not accept any restoration of Nato supply routes through the country as any supply going to Nato forces keeps the war prolonged as it supports the war effort. It is not simply a matter of money. It is a matter of extricating Pakistan from this war which is not Pakistan’s war at all and which has aggravated terrorism in Pakistan,” said the statement.

Khan said that it was “pathetic” to see Rehman playing his “usual game of simply upping his purchase price by declaring that his party would never allow any Nato supply route to be opened and then whimpering out and accepting the PCNS draft resolution”.

“The same was true of the N-League which made strong statements against Nato supply route and the US footprint in Pakistan including drones through Chaudhry Nisar and then submitted to the government’s will!”

Khan felt it was ironic that all these dubious compromises are made in the name of “national interest” when in fact they actually undermine the same.

Khan also pointed out the “shameful” manner in which the resolution asked for the US to review its drone policy rather than stating that Pakistan will not accept any attack on its territory.

Khan concluded by regretting how the parliament was being made to legitimise the Musharraf era by debilitating the Pakistan-US relationship rather than seeking to actually restructure the nature of the relationship.

Rejects, Boycotts, escapes (responsibilities), Blame…more blames…… making tall claims…..ever riding popular politics……playing with emotions of innocent’s people….whining…whining…whining….sadly that is the essence of Imran’s politics…!!

These are recommendations on foreign policy from parliament to executive, first time in our history….Sure this is not the end….but at least a good start indeed??? Why don’t you add something in it from your end as well…and campaign for it, what’s the point of rejecting out rightly for the sack of it??

Seroiusly, did he ever present his own “complete policy plan” of future course of action with regards to relations with USA especially related to WOT ever?????

Nevertheless, I’m content at least on one point…..he’s proving clearly day by day….that he and his party just “good for nothing”…He’s going in oblivion!!!

Excellent work by Imran Khan.

Make this a central point in the election campaign to throw out the feudal sellouts.

This was a time and perfect opportunity for PMLN, JUIF and PPP where they could've restored a slight of their vote bank but they did the opposite and eventually made a political suicide by allowing these NATO supplies. People from every walk of life cursing them to the core now - even their supporters. One of my mate a strong JUIF supporter literally went bonker yesterday on hearing the resumption of NATO supplies where JUIF had a hand in too.

Call it a political gimmick, a political stunt or whatever - Imran Khan speaks the voice of general public and that's what the public loves to hear - and boy he's going to shout about these events in every Jalsa, every talk show, every press conference, he's going to make all these Circus-Kay-Sher and theses Islam-Kay-Tekedaar literally naked in the eyes of the public.

This is a horrible act of treachery against Pakistan. This muq-muqa by asking for money for CSF and transit rights is akin to going to the grave of the 24 people killed by America and spitting on them.

This parliament should say "Take down the drones or else we are moving with vote of no-confidence".

Anyone who agrees with this is an American ghulam and a mulk dushman!

Sir, Parliament didn’t allow opening of supply routes in any clause; neither had it left for the executive to decide on his own, Yes it didn’t blocks it in any clause either, and the reasons for that is, these recommendations actually guidelines for GOP to negotiate with US on the things forwards with them from our parliment.

The final outcomes appear once US conveys his consents on all these of our demands to GOP and just yester night their spokesman comments that they sought to meet us on some middle grounds…what exactly that might be…only time will tells, we should wait for it. Then the moment arises for us to decide either to shoot down the drones or went to war or what and i'm with you on your thoughts.

In these backdrops only popular politics is being played….bcz it’s the easiest thing in this finite world.
