ISLAMABAD: The joint sitting of the Parliament Thursday approved the recommendations presented by the Parliamentary Committee on National Security (PCNS) in connection with the terms of engagement with US and matters relating to the national security of Pakistan.

Earlier, reading out the 'revised report' of the PCNS from the floor of the Parliament, the Committee's Chairman Senator Raza Rabbani said: "The relationship with USA should be based on mutual respect for each other's sovereignty, independence and territorial integrity."

He said Pakistan's sovereignty 'shall not be compromised'.

Rabbani said the US footprint in Pakistan must be reviewed, calling for an immediate cessation of drone attacks and infiltration into Pakistani territory on any pretext including hot-pursuit.

He said Pakistani territory including its airspace shall not be used for transportation of arms and ammunition to Afghanistan.

Pakistan nuclear programme and assets including their security will not be compromised, he continued.

"The US-Indo agreement on civil nuclear agreement has significantly altered the strategic balance in the region," he said, adding, therefore Pakistan should seek from US another similar facility.

"Pakistan reaffirms its commitment to the elimination of terrorism and combating extremism in pursuance of its national interests."

He said the government of Pakistan should seek an unconditional apology from the US on the unprovoked incident of Salala attack dated 25th-26th November 2011 in Mohmand Agency which claimed lives of 24 Pakistani soldiers.

"Those held responsible for the Mohmand Agency attack should be brought to justice," he said, adding Pakistan should be given assurances that such attacks or any other attacks impinging on Pakistan's sovereignty will not reoccur.

He said no verbal agreement regarding national security shall be made with any foreign government or authority and all such agreements and understandings shall cease to exist forthwith.

Raza Rabbani said no overt or covert operations inside Pakistan shall be committed.

Growing some balls? PCNS have allowed to reopen nato supplies...and also they have not made it conditional to drone attacks, as there were rumors before, tht nato supplies might be made conditional to drone attacks...which they havent...only they have just made a statement tht drone attacks should be stopped...which they had passed atleast thousand times before also...so nothing new..only rhetoric and nothing else...
And have they told specifically, how will they ensure only non lethal supplies to go through Pakistan? Will they open each and every container to check..if there are weapons or not? What procedure will they apply to ensure this? Its only rhetoric... I highly doubt tht weapons will not go... Even if only non lethal supplies go, they still shouldnt have allowed nato supplies again...

this time they said must be stopped , not like before should be . Don't worry as they passed the resolution Americans as usual will do drone attack soon it will open the reality about the resolution either its trash or true, just wait for some time . truth will come in front of all . WAIT

nothing new here, drones stop, Supply resumes, territory not to be used, :blah::blah::blah:,,,yap yap yap. Nothing substantial, at least going by past occasions.

But hey, PPP have another thing to boast of, and to say, Democracy khapay.

IMP, PPP wanted to do this, but wanted to fire the gun off the Parliament's shoulder, because they already alot of mess to deal with. Did they take any advice from the parliament when they decided to close the supplies down or kick out the Yanks?

Although in this whole fiasco, Maulana Fazlur Rehman might have got something.

I guess they dont know how much anger is in public. And by doing this they are doing a big favour to Imran Khan and his party.

Nothing new the same old BS is repeated in the wake of fooling this already fooled nation. This is as expected and we Pakistanis should learn to accept afterall we are the ones who brought this leadership in the 1st place.

hence it proves ..... Gen Pasha was actually a hurdle for America and it was even bigger hurdle for our politicians because they were not getting $$$$$$$$$$$........... and Mr.Kiyani actually needs a some set of choriyaaaaaaaan

Woh kya FEROON tha jo ALLAH nay hampe FERON choray hain... usnay tu **** bananay ka dawa kia tha ... ye bas dawa nahe kartay... par kaam saray wohi kartay hain jo FEROON nay kiyeee!

So what happens next?

Just because the list of recommendations has been approved and put out does not mean Pakistan will get what is is asking for. The real issue is getting a response from the other side, and the eventual forms of implementation.

Some of the content is just pure day dreaming. Like asking the US for a proper apology and that the soldiers, US soldiers be punished and put on trial.

AS with every other resolution that came before, this one is just going to vanish in thin air.

As I said, the govt. needed somebody's shoulders to fire the gun from, and that was the parliament.

You are probably very correct, but it continues the total lack of credibility that Pakistan suffers from to its long term detriment, given steps like this review that have no chance of succeeding in achieving anything concrete.

The nation expected that something new, something credible will come out, something bold and clear, but hey, it's same old same old.

There were alot of hidden factors in this , like maulana sahib, who might have gotten something but the kind of U-turn he made was amazing.

Then there is a resolution which says that no weapons will go through the NATO supplies, who is going to check it?

And the stupid point that the US agents are kicked out of Pak and US be not allowed to station them here, well hello Sherlock, no country takes permission to station intelligence agents!!!
