Pakistans imports to Malaysia are growing steadily and are expected to cross $280 million by the end of this year on the back of growing demand for its food products, including rice, fruits and vegetables in the Malaysian market. Currently bilateral trade between Pakistan and Malaysia has gone up by 13 percent to hit $2.8 billion in 2012, while Pakistans exports to Malaysia have also increased by 70 percent to achieve $253 million in 2012, said Masood Khalid outgoing Pakistan High Commissioner of Pakistan to Malaysia at Malaysia-Pakistani Business Council (MPBC) in Kuala Lumpur Malaysia.
Councils office-bearers including its Chairman Datuk Mohamad Salim Fateh Din were present. Masood Khalid praised the cooperative efforts championed by Mohamad Salim and the MPBC in furthering business collaboration between both countries. He offered his opinion on how both countries could achieve more symmetrical trade relations and pointed out other aspects of bilateral relations, which could be further developed, such as education and culture. Masoods next posting will be in Beijing as Pakistans Ambassador to China.
