Are the FT5&6 actually being used?

90% of the discussion is on generations -- it was either editing the title or moving most of the posts into a new thread

sir it would have been more useful to look into overview of the overall fleet, and then proceed the discussion regarding future composition, current demands, future outlook and so on....rather than going into fighter generations, which most of us don't have even understanding of, and the indians who just have to satisfy themselves by proving that their super dooper military is superior to anything on earth..... i think they deviated the thread by going into pointless discussion....

PAF Have
18 blk 52 4.5 generation +F-16A/B Block 15 +F-16A/B Block 15 ADF & F-16A/B Block 15 OCU which are comparable 4th gen fighters +Including Jf-17 Blk 1 which 4th gen Total = 124 fighter includin 4.5+4th gen all single Engine fighters.

Whereas IAF
216 Su-30 Mki 4.5 +68 Mig 29 upg 4.5 gen + 49 Mirage mirage 2000h/th +45 Mig 29 k 4.5 generation TOTAL=378 all 4.5 generation with 49 Single Engine Fighters

I don't think they maybe even useful as kamikaze. Seriously are they usable?

The FT-5 is a reliable trainer and with a complete rebuild pretty safe, on the way to be retired pretty soon and load already shifted to K-8s so no concerns. FT-6s likely to be no longer in service since F-6 retired.

@Shabi1 Thank you for the reply, I asked that because the original post is listing ft6 and ft5 as active. Can you point me to a source for ft5 complete rebuilding? The k8 part makes sense.

@nomi007 janab I consider you as an well informed person. Please don't misunderstand my query, it is not to deride PAF. I consider PAF as a good professional force pragmatic in their decision. Their asset management of fighter fleet is an indication of this, despite lack of proper financial support. In lot of this our IAF can learn from PAF.
The biggest mistake our common public makes is to deride the other side.
The management of training in PAF is an interest to me due to the comparatively lower number of twin seaters with the exception of f16 in PAF.

because they are not from wikipedia, which anyone can edit, where as flight global is a more authentic source as it collects data from around the world and publish it just like iiss military balance, so their point of sources would be air force personals, manufacturers databases....there might be discrepancies in it such as ZDK which is listed as 3 active where as all four have been delivered to PAF.
