That is an unusual picture and atleast I have not seen it before. Thanks for posting.
This 'observation station' will give the refuelling "hose and drogue" operator a perfect over-view of the aircraft lining up astern of the Refueller. He can then roll-out and roll-in the fuelling hoses from the refuelling pods. He can even control the fuel flow from this position.

looks mean dosnt it....needs a glass cockpit and engine upgrade badly...some airports dont allow IL-76's and 78's to land due to noise pollution.

If needed they can be fitted with "hush" kits, just like the old 737s, 727s, and 707s.

Which wouldn't get you anything, because you need boom refuelling capability to refuel the F16s, which KC130s don't offer. So to refuel the F16s only new tankers would be a choice.

The new f-16s with CFTs have a longer range, however, with F-16's range was never a problem. The current F-16s in PAF are based at Shahbaz which is ideal distance from the border to the east.

The point was not the capability of the F16, but the capability of PAFs tanker fleet and how an F16 could be refuelled.

The reason i made that post was that re-fueling tankers are not need of the hour for f-16s in PAF. Since buying a new Tanker for just 63 F-16s, does it make sense, when the aircraft like F-16 has a very good range?

PAF bought 4 IL-78 tankers because they refuel most of the fleet in the future with ease and no compatibility issues, i.e. JF-17 and Mirage.

Thats a good thing if we get this capability then we can reach US or UK(With nuclear weapon) without help from any country..
