Are you attempting to fool everyone or just this confused yourself? The census was conducted by the Federal government with federal employees. Results were also counted and compiled by a Federal organization. And there goes all your claims.





Where did you get the figure of 7 Million? Even if correct, you may not realize that CNIC is issued only to 18+ so what about the under 18 population? What about those who are over 60 and don't bother renewing their CNIC? What about those who live in Karachi but have their domicile and/or CNIC from Punjab, Baluchistan or KPK, for obvious reasons?





And how do you figure that? With a population that is almost 60% of entire country, Punjab is set to retain the largest share of NFC and Federal seats. If anything, it's share will grow larger.





And out comes the racist. Wasn't too hard to detect that anyway. I thought you were just confused, but I see you have an agenda.





To any sane person, Karachi has a population of 25 to 30 million if not more.



If by the above you mean Karachi should roll over......yet again, then what is the point of these exercises anyway? If you are sincerely asking a question than be advised that Karachi, a city of 25 to 30 million, is in severe need of funds. There is no water, roads are in extremely poor condition, sanitation is non existent, water and sewerage treatment is a fraction of what it should be and then there are electricity failures which are a regular feature. A city of this magnitude and importance should not be facing these issues.



In your hatred for MQM, you are becoming an enemy of Karachi.

Ever though if it is actually true? Lahore's population grows a whopping 110% and Karachi grows a mere 60%????? How can that make sense to any sane person is just beyond me.....unless one has never been out of Lahore.

According to the district-wise data for Karachi division, population of Central district (all urban) is 2.971m compared to 2.277m in the 1998 census. The population increased with an average growth rate of 1.41pc.

The population of Karachi East (all urban) has almost doubled in the last 19 years as it was 1.472m in 1998 and now it stood at 2.907m with an average growth rate of 3.64pc.

Karachi South’s population (all urban) in the current census is 1.791m compared to 1.478m in 1998. The annual growth rate is 1.02pc — lowest in any of Sindh’s districts.

Korangi’s population (also all urban) is 2.457m compared to 1.561m in 1998 with an average annual growth rate of 2.41pc.

The West district of Karachi division has a total of 3.914m people compared to 2.089m in the 1998 census. The average annual growth rate is 3.35pc. The rural population in the district in 2017 increased with the annual growth rate of 7.34pc to reach 283,247 (73,568 in the previous census). The urban population increased with the growth rate of 3.14pc to 3.631m (2.015m in 1998).

The total population in Malir district is 2.008m in 2017 (more than double than of 1998, which was 976,193). It increases with an average annual growth rate of 3.86pc. However, the rural population in the district increased to 857,922 from 333,942 in 1998 with 5.08pc annual growth. The urban population increased to 1.150m compared to 642,251 with an annual growth rate of 3.11pc.

Only to 18+ but we can get rough idea. Are you telling punjab population is 200m because 55m have CNIC? Why 10 million punjabis, pathans and baloch have their domicile registered in their own villages when they can register in Karachi and make MQM and its mini factions non-entity. Situation in Karachi was very bad under Zulfiqar Mirza but it started getting better after his removal. And please don't even get me started on Rangers. They have played both sides very effectively.

No, I don't mean Karachi should roll over. I mean, the establishment MUST ensure impartial conduct of census, such that no party can claim it is rigged or flawed.

We are a very divided nation, we are Punjabi, Pakhtun, Sindhi, Baloch and Mohajir. All communities have their own vested interests which supersede National interests. How can we ever be impartial?

Next time we have a census, with the current trend, the population of Karachi will solely be represented by Rangers

They were federal employees but local in a sense that they were Karachi people hired temporary by PBS to count. Now even army was involved in manipulation? And as far as I know education is under provincial gov and so are teachers.

Have you seen KP, FATA census results? Wait till we get more detailed report before going on about millions migrating to Karachi which is just wishful thinking. Afghans if anything have inflated Karachi numbers along with bengalis which will be removed in final report next year.

What surprised me in this census was population of Lahore. Its turning into another Karachi! Its must be alarming for GOVT and they should take steps to setup new cities with better necessities of life.

I am only going to say this once so pay attention.
There are two things which must be counted, City proper and metropolitan area, i.e the suburbs. What is what is decided by the Provincial Gov, not the Federal Government. The Government of the Punjab has declared the entire Lahore district to be part of Lahore City. The Sindh government has excluded several Karachi suburbs from the Karachi definition, in essence they have maintained the City/Metropolitan Area difference., while for Lahore they have all been added to Lahore City. PBS does not make these decisions.

You cannot compare the two. Karachi City proper is being compared to Lahore Metro area. In reality, the Census results show that
i) Karachi City proper alone has nearly 50% more population than Lahore and its surrounding. Add Karachi's surroundings and you end up with nearly double, Karachi goes from largest, to largest by far.

ii) When MQM says 30 million, they are also including areas away from Karachi Division which are part of its commuter belt and economic orbit. That would include parts of Hub District (another province), Jamshero district and Thatta District.

Seats are allocated on basis of Provincial data, not city wide; and Punjab will lose seats and Sindh will gain.

because a lot of people left Karachi thanks to MQM bhtta khori, Pindi and Lahore grew because of that, I personally know 5 families who moved. People from KPK stopped coming to Karachi and instead Pashtun population increased in Punjab. If there was a conspricey to reduce Karachi population, how many people are involved in this conspricey..one of them should have clear concious and come out and make it public and since when MQM has done their own census to know how many are missing. I am Karachi wala and I have been hearing this bullshit since I was a child and I wasnt born yesterday

Lol just because you know 5 families that moved out doesn't mean that people have stopped migrating to the BIGGEST CITY AND ECONOMIC LIFELINE of the country. And you claim to be a Karachiite but support Nawaz Sharif which is not possible, no sane Karachiite will ever support Nasoor Sharif. There is a reason why he doesn't win a single seat from the city.

May 12 started decade long insurgency and target killings. But even before that target killings by MQM was norm. Karachi population should be 13 million once we get final data with bengali and afghani population removed. People have stopped settling in Karachi from outside, the growth is natural and from with in city. And the fact that illegals inflate numbers a bit. You know who is fool here? Anyone who believe muhajirs now make 20% of population in Karachi. In fact now I'm sure muhajirs are majority and likely over 50% of population when in 1998 muhajir population was 48% of Karachi.

People have left Karachi in large numbers.
