Opinionated - Should India worry if Pakistan becomes rich?

A richer Pakistan means more money to procure more weapons, to fund and train fighters in Kashmir; to create more divisions and violence between hindus and muslims in India.

But on the other hand a rich pakistan also means more educated and matured people. A mature pakistan means settling matters like kashmir through dialogue. It also means less people to recruit for Jihad in Kashmir (as poor,uneducated and umemployed people wont be available that easily).

Personally, I feel a rich Pakistan will definitely be a threat to India. A richer country doesn't automatically translate into a less religious and matured society. Saudi Arabia is rich but people there are religious. Kashmir issue is a religious issue. Even if Pakistan becomes rich, people and establishment there will not accept giving up fight for kashmir for greater good of the region.
Should India,therefore do everything in its capacity to keep pakistan poor?

We are rich. The problem is that we are corrupt and this is keeping us "poor". India is worried that Pakistan becomes less corrupt. That is why India supports corrupt Nawaz Sharif.

in this case it will not alone pakistan region have to move ahead and all the region will be rich . but seems imposible regional coopration under fascists rule on india and BD . other side burning afghanistan nad sanctioned iran . not possible till region turn civilized like EU .

India has always been ready for a resolution although it hasnt declared it overtly.
You keep your side of kashmir and we will keep ours.
India has never done anything to grab your kashmir nor did it encourage any militancy there.
It's always pakistan that has been creating problem in indian Kashmir.

A very 'poor' thought though this resonates well with most of Indians and also the Indian state policy also want a poor Pakistan, if not a 'no' Pakistan.

But India cannot keep Pakistan poor, just as it cannot make it any richer, under current circumstances.

But trying to make Pakistan poor India is getting poorer.

Just as India tried to isolate Pakistan, ended up isolating itself, this state craft of Chanakya Neeti is all flawed, as it is the region and neighbors which develops and prospers and not individual countries. So this is a very poor idea to keep Pakistan poor which India unfortunately follow.

What do you think India is doing by supporting terrorism in Pakistan? Desperately trying to get Pakistan black listed at FATF? IsOlAtInG Pakistan? All are attempts to sabotage growth.

I agree, this is the larger picture that India misses. Pakistan will become rich as Pakistan has loads of resources. India can become even richer.

India in trying to discredit Pakistan is actually making herself weaker. Most Indians with due respect have sick mentality, they openly talk about it.

What do you think India is doing by supporting terrorism in Pakistan? Desperately trying to get Pakistan black listed at FATF? IsOlAtInG Pakistan? All are attempts to sabotage growth.

They did every thing possible. They can now see the defeat clearly.

Now that YOU have scrapped Article 370, the issue of Kashmir should be settled as per original proposal (UN Resolution 47). However, India is attempting to change the demographics of Kashmir by force lately. Pakistan have a principled stand on this issue.

Mukti Bahni in east Pakistan, LTTE(Tamil tigers) in Sri Lanka, in Pakistan India supported the BLA/BRA much before any so called support by Pakistan of Kashmir militants.

India also supported MQM dissidents and militants...their terror infra is many a times bigger than Pakistan and under state patronage and support. Yes the navy serving commander Kulbashan Jhadav was a big fish nabbed, one reason for the sudden decline of terror acts in Karachi.
