Operation Chariot the first ever Commando Raid on the port of St Nazaire in France has more significance because it denied the Bismark a home in the Atlantic. After that it was straight forward sinking the Bismarck.

If I'm not wrong, not Chariot but Operation Collar was the first recorded commando ops conducted by British Forces.
