Islamic social justice demands that every life be treated as equal.

One cannot go against fundamental principles of Islam.

The government should be sued in Federal Islamic Shariah Court for endangering millions of lives for economic gains.

Mr. Niazi is on the record of stating that Pakistani constitution guarantees Shariah provisions for Muslims of Pakistan.

If government intends to earn, impose sin tax on people violating the lockdown or have them work for free in construction projects like dams and farmland.

Islam does not mean getting rich or die trying. It is a lifestyle choice as recommended by Allah of the Quran.

And what if it cannot be treated equally?

Lets say we have one ventilator and you have a 10 year old and a 90 year old who need that ventilator. Who will you save?

People here are emotional and are just trying to paint me as some kind of psycho with no empathy for the elderly not realizing that I myself fall in the category of the elderly. What they fail to realize is that there is no cure yet and they is no assurance that it would be available in future either for COVID-19. Even after 40 years of research there is no vaccine for HIV. COVID-19 = SARS + HIV. Medical scientists are clueless on this. Heck they are not even able to reproduce this in animals for testing any vaccine.

All these shutdowns are in the hope that some thing will popup. What they could not do it 40 years, they have to do it now in 40 days.

First the shutdown would be 1 day then 1 week, then 1 Month then 1 Quarter and it goes on in the hope that the cure would be found. There would be a point in future where these countries have to decide whether they keep on going with extending the shutdowns or pull the plug on the shutdowns. The sunk costs will be huge to bite that bitter pill at that point time in the future.

If you play cards and have bad cards in the hand, you are better off quitting immediately than putting 50% of your money only to realize that you are in the same place as when you started.

The chances of a person surviving with or without the shutdown are more or less the same. But there is 100% certainty that the shutdown will kill the economy.

Emotional people willing to destroy the economy in the hope of saving lives will save neither.

I hope I am wrong but my gut tells me that I am pretty right on this. I would be glad to be wrong though.

Finally for the people quoting Islam, In Hadith, Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) said that ‘None of you should wish for death because of a calamity be falling him but if he has to wish for death, he should say‘‘O Allah! Keep me alive as long as life is better for me, and let me die if death is better for me”

Do these people really think elderly cherish their life when their life long savings & pensions are lost due to economic downturn, their kids lose their jobs and their grand children have no hope of getting a degree or job.

No elderly person would like to live and see that day.

Retired people on average are the most wealthiest people in the world.

Corona virus can kill anybody , the assumption that it will only kill the old is not completely true. Its about survival of the fittest in short ( Better immune system and health). Secondly the number of critical apparatus in pakistan such as ventilators is next to none considering the population which brings us to the point how much critical patients can our country sustain? The argument of old and young will then become relevant.

Shutdown will slowdown the spread , people who are critical will start to come out who can be put on life saving equipment and the spread can be stopped completely. So letting anybody die in any case is not a good idea i guess. Because if you dont have life saving equipment in sufficient numbers young people will die as well.

What you are suggesting will spread the virus to whole population and that would be a catastrophy of unimaginable consequences where economy will become irrelevant. So its better to try to save everybody and get our preparations done rather than finding ways to let people die! Anyhow lets agree to disagree as they say!

But lives of millions of Pakistanis was gambled by the lord Nawaz Sharif & Zardari.
Try to understand the fact, the cause of plight of Pakistan’s economy is IMF loan taken by previous governments.

The government devises strategy for shortages of necessary items, to simply put trump has failed to assessed whats coming its way if food is also out of stock . European countries and china is successful on other hand in management of such issues.

China is a communist country. They are accustomed to rationing by their government. Democracies/Market based economies work differently. The expectations of the people are also different.

Many EU countries have socialist policies unlike US. In EU it may take 6 months or more to get appointment for some of the medical procedures done as there is a long queue. In US, you go to any doctor/medical facility that your like (assuming you have a PPO insurance). So you cannot just blame Trump. US federal government does not control many things. Many things are controlled either by each state or the industry. US is a capitalist based economy.

So your problem is with those 52 families? Will you nationalize the assets of those 52 families or take more loans to save the lives?
