The Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) welcomed the decision of the Republic of Indonesia to host an Extraordinary Islamic Summit in Jakarta on the 6th and 7th of March 2016 on the issue of Al-Quds and Palestine in light of the persistent apartheid Israeli policies of oppression of the Palestinian people; changing the demography and social make up of Al-Quds and encroachments on Al Aqsa Mosque.

Over the past few days, the OIC Secretary General, Iyad Ameen Madani, conducted intensive talks with Retno LP Marsudi, Foreign Minister of Indonesia and Riyad al-Malki, Foreign Minister of Palestine, on the arrangements and preparations for the Extraordinary Summit and established high level committees to continue work for that purpose.

The decision to hold this Extraordinary Summit came in response to the request of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to consolidate and move forward the OIC's efforts in support of the Palestinian people in their struggle for their national and human rights; the protection of Palestinian social fabric and character; the preservation of Muslim and Christian places of worship from Israeli racist policies of Judaization; and the resumption of the peace process within a specific agenda, timetable and a more just and effective mediation.

**** off with never ending Palestinian issue, this issue had drag down many Countries in this world for the pledge of less than 8 million peoples meanwhile more than hundreds millions people is at the points of never ending war, slaughter and starvation across the world. Palestinian issue is an epic blown out issue with less important point for Indonesia to get a hold and gain for our National Interest.

It is stated in our constitution preamble that we dont like any kind of occupation, and we have firmly stated in the constitution that it should be vanished. We are not a passive nation if we look on our constitution made by our founding father. We dont just live and die, as a big nation we should contribute as a good force in this world.

Our ideology, which is Pancasila ( 5 pillars ) has put the believe on one God as the first pillar, that means we should not just focus on our "economic" interest.

Yes, it is true that Syrian crisis is the worst one currently. But it cannot be solved unless there is a military intervention there. Despite that Indonesia under former administration has promised to provide ground troops under UN. If the peace process can be proceed and signed, Indonesian troops can be in big number there as we also has put the biggest foreign troops in Lebanon under UN.

Indonesia has reaffirmed its support for the independence of Palestine as it is preparing to host an Organization of the Islamic Cooperation (OIC) summit in March.

President Joko “Jokowi” Widodo said he had asked relevant ministers to start organizing the conference and follow the successful implementation of the Asian-African Conference in Jakarta and Bandung, West Java, last year.

“The summit was initially to be held in Morocco but it said that it was not ready. I then asked our foreign minister [Retno Marsudi] to express Indonesia’s readiness to host the OIC Extraordinary Summit,” the President said as quoted by tempo.com during the opening of a limited Cabinet meeting on the OIC summit at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Wednesday.

In the meeting, President Jokowi called on all ministries, local administrations and the public to participate in the organizing of the conference.

“All must be prepared, from confirming the attendance of heads of state and governments to security related matters,” said Jokowi.

He further said the OIC summit was part of the government’s efforts to show the world that Indonesia was a safe country and that Indonesian Muslims were tolerant.

Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung said the summit would be held in Jakarta on March 6-7. Minister Retno and State Secretary M. Pratikno are responsible for securing the summit’s venues, organizing conference materials, security and other facilities.

Retno said the summit would start with a senior officials meeting, which would be followed up by a ministerial meeting.

“These two meetings will be held on March 6,” she said, adding that the OIC Extraordinary Summit would be held on March 7.

Retno said the summit held several important meanings for Indonesia, the OIC and the world. First, it was important in the context of the Middle East Quartet negotiations, which stopped in May 2015, and second, concerning conditions in al-Quds that have yet to improve. (liz/ebf)(+)

It's true if we will not sitting idle against any illegal occupation. But this Palestinian issue is had become more nuisance than fight against justice. You know why? The whole world giving aid and money for Palestinian cause every year, but what we get until today. They using all the aid to make more weapons and firing them toward Israel, even they know what kind of consequence when they do that, never in their mind they want to building up their Nation as a whole. You know, so many Country in this world facing discrimination and injustice, but at least their people standing and thought on how to handle their problems without relying much from the rest. The Chechen, they fight, they lose, but they never wailing for injustice, instead they learn something on how to living side by side with the Russian, Indonesian, we are fighting against Colonialism, but we had our own strategy and effectively formulate them to fighting against the Dutch weakness, and so with the other. The Palestinian, i don't know what these people is capable of, so much begging and crying fox lately. They chose to fire the rockets against the Israel, they know the consequence, they reap it and they crying loud for injustice for their own foolishness.

Palestinian issue had become an occult for some dreamer and Utopian

You know, there is much illegal occupation in the whole world, and why we must blown up the Palestinian issue every year. So many injustice against Muslim community in this century War against Moro in Southern Philippine, War against terrorism in Middle East, Syrian plight, Azerbaijan Nogorno-Karabakh issue.

We are asked from, so not initially our intend to do this. In other word, Indonesia is needed by other (influential) OIC members to do more active in its international role.

What kind of tangible benefit we can get from Palestine issue? Are this issue had something to do with our people issue like poverty and so on?

We are not obliged to care them

It is not tangible benefit of course, but non tangible one.

We dont seek just a monetary satisfaction to justify our present in this world.

Maybe it's you,
Our people and Country needs them, with money we can do a lot of things including bought the other Loyalties and change people opinion about Our Country

This is bs. And the emotional Muslims around the world need to recognize it.

The Gulf Arabs are in bed with Israel. Egypt/Jordan/Turkey are as well. And every Muslim nation has at one point bought military equipment from Israel. And every Muslim nation has trade with it as well.

Just forget this. Let the PLO reach their conclusion with Hamas over a final civil war, and the winner can continue to bitch and moan.
