NEW DELHI: One Border Security Force (BSF) jawan was martyred on Friday, in yet another ceasefire violation by Pakistan, in Jammu and Kashmir's RS Pura, reported ANI news agency.

One civilian is reported injured in the firing which took place in Arnia.

The martyred jawan has been identified as BSF Constable Brijendra Bahadur Singh. Bahadur, 32, hailed from Vidya Bhawan Naraypur village in Uttar Pradesh's Balia district. He is survived by his wife Sushmita Singh.

"One BSF trooper has been killed in ceasefire violation by Pakistan rangers. They are using mortars, automatics and small arms to target nine BSF posts in Arnia. BSF troopers are retaliating strongly and effectively", said BSF sources to IANS news agency.

This is the fifth ceasefire violation by Pakistan in six days, and the third consecutive day of such violations, according to PTI.

"BSF troops retaliated strongly and gave befitting reply," said a BSF officer.

"Intermittent fire continued from both side from mid night till morning," the officer added.
This latest unprovoked violation by Pakistan follows a similar one on Wednesday, when three Indian jawans were injured in shelling by Pakistani troops along the Line of Control in the Jammu and Poonch districts of J&K. A day later, India retaliated to that unprovoked shelling and killed two Pakistani soldiers in the same areas.

Incidents of ceasefire violations by Pakistani troops have increased sharply this year. Until August 1, there were 285 such actions by the Pakistan army, while there were 228 in all of 2016, according to the Indian Army, said PTI.

A 29-year-old jawan of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) allegedly committed suicide by shooting himself with his service weapon here this morning, an official said.

Constable Amit Kumar was on sentry duty since 7 am today at the headquarters of the CRPF's battalion no. 37 in Aheri taluka, about 120 kms from here.

While on duty, he allegedly fired two shots at himself with his service rifle, a senior CRPF official told PTI.

Kumar's colleagues rushed him to a nearby hospital but he succumbed to the injuries on the way, he said.

The constable, hailing from Haryana, was transferred to the CRPF's headquarters in Aheri from Arunachal Pradesh around seven months ago, the official said.

Sometime back he had gone to his hometown on a vacation and resumed services last month, he said.

The district police have lodged an accidental death report and initiated an investigation, the official said

Pakistan says India shelling killed 4 soldiers in Kashmir

The Pakistani military has accused the Indian forces of killing four Pakistani soldiers by firing from across the Line of Control (LoC) in the divided Kashmir region.

"Indian troops targeted an army vehicle moving along LoC ... The vehicle fell into the river and four soldiers have drowned," Pakistan's military said in a statement on Sunday.

The statement said Pakistani forces recovered the body of one soldier from the Neelum River and that search was going on to find the remaining three.

Officials in India's ministry of defense said they were not informed about the incident.

India and Pakistan have seen a surge in fighting over the past months along the LoC, the de facto border which separates the two parts of Kashmir controlled by the two nuclear-armed neighbors. The two countries have repeatedly accused each other of violating a 2003 truce.

The cross-border clashes intensified following a spike in protests in the Indian-administered Kashmir last year which came after a senior militant commander was killed in the area. People in the Muslim-majority Kashmir have for years demanded independence or a merger with Pakistan. India has ignored the call and continues to police the region with a 500,000-strong military force. It also accuses Pakistan of supporting the militants in Kashmir, a charge denied by Islamabad. About 70,000 people have been killed in India’s crackdown in Kashmir since 1989.

The Pakistani military said Sunday that it had responded to the cross-border fire from the Indian side. There was no confirmation from India and whether there were any casualties.

India said Wednesday that two of its soldiers had been killed in firing from the Pakistani side of the border. Indian authorities blamed Pakistani forces for the incident.

Loosing soldiers because of rag tag militants or ceasefire gives more pain than soldiers martyred during war.
Lets finish it once in a full fledged war rather than wasting life in CF violations.

we learned this from Indians who always doctor titles when Kashmiris die
and everything stopped after we threatened to coke their supply line.
They stopped firing at the vehicles on the road.
Because they knew that when the last time we did that in kargil, their soldiers in siachin were about to die hungary.

.
Do you know how many Pakistani soldiers died ,wait that's national security and can't be revealed :haha:
Just the words of a politician who is not even defense related,,,, do you want to compare how many Indian soldiers commit suicide compared to Pakistani soldiers.....oh wait....suicides also happen in US Army, Russian Army, British army....Martian army.....

. .
and everything stopped after we threatened to coke their supply line.

Coke is coca cola.
You mean choke the supply?

That never happened, if you ever had a chance to stop the supply lines to Kashmir it was in 1965. But your incompetency made it impossible.

Because they knew that when the last time we did that in kargil, their soldiers in siachin were about to die hungary.

Who ever came to do the thing in Kashmir, never returned to their land.

India controls Siachin glacier.

There is no Hungary in Siachen. Hungary is in Central Europe.
