That is some REALLY weird **** right there. Socialism anyone?

Right on!

This election, was in favour of the democrats from the start. It wouldn't have mattered WHO was running for presidency from the Democratic side, they would've won anyway. Simply, because they were out of options. On one hand, a dying war veteran, and on the other, An elitist, *HALF*black spokesman for "Change" with no experience what so ever. Hats off to the republicans and their last two terms of DISASTER that ended up giving this Nobody the most Important job in the world.

They ensured Obama's win through nominating McCain and Sarah Palin was a clever way to destroy any last remaining conservative support, so yes the election was handed to him and the Democrats on a gold platter.

I won't go so far as to call him the Anti Christ but he does have Dajjal-ish qualities which should frighten anyone with half a brain. :undecided:

Let's face it. McCain was not very charasmatic.

Is this a joke?

Sadly, it's not. I was under the same impression that it might be fake, but turns out, it's as real as it gets.

Hey! Guys! It's OK! Bambi Obama is going to save the rain forests. He will get so tied up in trying to fix our financial mess that he won't have times to send drones to FATA.......

Care to expand? I was hoping for a bit more feedback from our American members.

Also, usually fixing the economy and causing more war goes hand in hand, but that's just history speaking.

For the first time in history, Americans are being indoctrinated and brainwashed on a massive scale for personality worship and cult-like grooming of the young and innocent to sing and moan about someone who's never done anything for them. This is scary because Obama's list of achievements is shorter than Ajmal Singh's height yet people voted him in on a landslide win. Why? Because of his skin colour?

KB, I agree with you that this is the worst hero-worship of a US politician that I have seen in my lifetime (I'm 63). There was a lot of adulation for John F. Kennedy, but mostly it gained steam after he was assassinated in the third year of his presidency. As people looked back with rose-tinted glasses during the Vietnam War, JFK seemed to be greater and greater, especially to young people like myself. I was a freshman in college when Kennedy was assassinated in 1963, and I felt his murder personally as being robbed of a young leader with whom I could identify.

With Obama I'm not sure what is going on. I am now too old and cynical to be taken in by the "savior of the world" emotions that many have. I must say that I fear that young people are less able to understand the difference between the real world and a fantasy world than in my day. Today's youth have grown up with so much artificial reality in terms of video games, computerized images on You Tube, Hollywood movies that put forward fantasy worlds (like Harry Potter and Matrix) that I wonder if our young people think that Obama is a new Avatar of Peace or something. I mean, look at the avatars some of the youngest posters here at PDF select for themselves. Many show an attachment to fantasy heroes and characters that spills over into the way they view Pakistani political leaders.

I can't psychoanalyze the Obama fanatics's mindset. I don't get it personally because I see it as 80% clever public relations-style manipulation. There is a part (20%) of Obamamania that I do get, which is the desire to overcome the affects of racial discrimination and to, somehow, better integrate black Americans into the mainstream culture. Many, many Caucasians who voted for Obama hope that his tenure in the White House will cause black Americans to let go of their anger and feelings of being "left out", thereby modifying in a helpful way some of their tendencies to separate themselves.

Finally, is the phenomenon of Obamamania dangerous? It is possible, but I don't really fear that he will become a dictator or an authoritarian personality. He will not become an American version of Hugo Chavez. I still believe that the American political system has far too many checks in place to limit the opportunities for dictatorship. An American dictator would have to have the solid backing of the Pentagon, and I would be surprised if Obama could achieve that. Rather, I think there will be a wary, somewhat cool relationship between Obama and the US military that may be exacerbated if Obama changes the policy and allows homosexuals to serve openly in the armed forces. The Gay and Lesbian activist groups expect him to do this early in his first year, so we'll see.

Obama's main advantage in prolonging the honeymoon glow of his new Presidency will be the liberal (socialist) communication media and Hollywood people. When a Republican takes office they are immediately undermined by our liberal press. A Democrat gets a "free ride" for a long time. But eventually, the newspapers need controversy and turmoil to write about so they will even turn on Obama after a few years. They get totally bored with writing anything positive so they will have to develop negative story lines, even about Obama. Witness the US press frenzy over Democrat Bill Clinton's Monica Lewinsky fiasco. So, I think this media tendency also works against Obamamania turning into a dictatorship.

The bottom line: The videos are silly, but I have faith in our political system to chop Obama down to size, eventually.
