Nuclear reactor at Kalpakkam: World's envy, India's pride

Both Pakistan and India have got a pact. And attacking such facility is no less them nuking.

No one, not even a country that has been nuked, will attack a nuclear poweplant. In a nuclear bomb, the radition has a short half-life and is mostly converted into energy. Attacking a plant is spreading unused, highly radioactive material that can last 1000s of years around. If it gets carried by the air and deposited on your land you can be sure that humans will not be able to live there ever again.

Not safe remember russia chiniyako radiation leak, where is nuclear waste going to dispose india and lots of residence living near reactor

If you meant chernobyl, then that was a totally different reactor design which made super-criticality possible. Even after all that brouhaha, deaths from chernobyl radition is at maximum in few thousands -- depending upon whom you believe.

For nuclear waste disposal, we already have a plan and also researching ADS which turns Nuclear waste into harmless low radioactive elements.

The higher u climb the harder u fall

this nuclear reactor will be the first target in wartime
You know singapore is a very small country... just a small city. In a real war, one single MIRV with 4-5 warheads missile can kill all singaporean with in singapore in one shot. May be you should worry about that more.
May be you will need something more substantial than Israeli Iron Dome?

no need , south east asia nuclear free zone.

we dont live in fear from nukes from pakistan and china

India has certainly beaten Pakistan with overall obsession. You can't be genuinely happy for your achievements without comparing to Pakistan.

What a pathetic sense of patriotism.

I was going to congratulate India but you don't deserve it.
hahah... nice one :D

This is one field I would say India is ahead due to the fact that they had access to Rhapsodie reactors from France in the 60s. Effort on this front started in the late 2000s for China, before that, there was no plan to even touch this field. Let's see where we can go in another 10 years, China is planning something bigger than this.

This is why we were pushing for nsg membership. To export this tech
I wouldn't be looking at exports so soon. This technology is inherently not commercially viable from prior experience in India, Japan, France, US and Russia.

Yes but the efforts have been going from a long time in india. The 3 stage program is now bearing fruits, and with our thorium reserves, i believe this can be commercialised in about 10 years

10 years is a feasible timeline for commercialization. Let's wait for this to start up and assess the performance. If this works, mankind can have a great future.

This is a commercial reactor, The experimental one is already running for 20-30 years- This reactor may not be for export- It is technically demanding technology and we can't have anybody but us handling this, other If they monkey around such critical thing can cause a massive nuclear disaster and Indian companies will have to pay in case of liability-

Perhaps in future 10-15 years from now when the 1st Thorium reactors are commercialized, those reactors and fuel can be exported for that commercial PFBRs in good numbers are crucial-

We aren't sitting idle either
