PESHAWAR: Lack of adequate security arrangements by the provincial government have left underpasses built after Peshawar Bus Rapid Transit (BRT) desolated.
Where most saw desolation, a poor man saw opportunity. The Hashnagri underpass, which is used by locals to cross the road, now has a barber shop which is visited by many and has risen to fame on social media.
The shop has a few chairs and a mirror and falls in the path of those who use the underpass as an alternative to cross the road.
Despite being brought to the notice of the administration, no development was done on the BRT underpasses.
On social media, citizens have praised the barber while others have lambasted the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) government for saying taxes could be imposed on the new shop.
The BRT authorities have not commented or reacted to the barbershop yet.
ADB finds ‘deadly flaws’ in Peshawar BRT project
The Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) government significantly deviated from the original, agreed design and used inferior quality material in the Rs70 billion Peshawar metro bus project putting lives and assets at risk in the process, according to the Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) findings.
