Nigar Awards are in trouble again!
It seems as if Nigar Awards are garnering all sorts of negative publicity
IFRAH SALMAN FEB 22, 2017 07:10PM
As we stated earlier, Nigar Awards have been making headlines all over Pakistan but not for all the right reasons. And now it seems like, the prestigious awards have attached another controversy with their name. The organisers of Nigar Awards have been sued by a Karachi-based businessman Osama Qazi on the pretext of violation of contract and betrayal.
Usama Qazi of Lush Productions filed a petition in Sindh High Court against Aslam Rashidi s/o relaying the organisers for the Nigar Weekly and Nigar Awards had violated the contract stating the two parties to work together for all future endeavours for 10 years.
According to Usama Qazi Aslam Rashidi has signed up with a third party and has stopped working with Lush Productions.
In an exclusive chat with HIP, Usama Qazi told that both parties had entered into an agreement regarding a 50/50 ownership of Nigar Entertainment on the 18th of April 2016.
As per the agreement Nigar Film Awards exclusive and non-transferable rights were transferred to Nigar Entertainment for 10 years. As per Usama the management at Nigar Awards failed to abide by the contract arrangements and sent him a notice of termination without an explanation on the 1st of December again violating the clause which stated a minimum notice of 6 months was to be handed over in advance in case the contract needed to end. The management at Nigar has refused arbitration via the cheif arbitrator and handed over project responsibilities to a third party which is unacceptable for Lush Productions as the company has its credibility, time and all investments at stake... thus the petition.
Aslam Rashidi has confirmed termination of the contract between the two signatories stating Lush Production's proprietor Usama Qazi failed to deliver as promised in the agreement and therefore is instigating a propaganda against the prestigious organisation.
According to Mr. Aslam Rashidi, preparations for Nigar Awards are well underway and the ceremony will be held as declared on the 16th of March 2017. He has urged the audience and people of the fraternity to not pay heed to the accusations being made against the prestigious Nigar organization.
Usama Qazi is however persistant about the fact that the management at Nigar voilated the agreement by serving a notice without going into an arbitration and the outcomes failing. The later is insistent about his company's time, money, goodwill and PR being voilated in the industry.
Nigar Awards 2017: Nominations Revealed!
The Sindh High Court has given both parties time till Friday for arbitration and settling of matters asking both parties to maintain status quo, after which things will be decided as per the Pakistan law. It seems as if Nigar Awards are garnering all sorts of negative publicity, first because of their nominations and now because of the petition filed in court.
Not everyone is happy with the Nigar Awards nomination list released!
Let’s see if the filed court petition and orders of stay affect the pre-decided date of the Nigar Awards i.e. 16th March 2017.
