Hey all...

I was thinking that its time this site has a new set of summary-articles relating to the PAF and not only its equipment, but training, operations, exercises, etc. In only the past 2-3 years a lot has happened and a lot has changed, especially with regards to the current induction of Erieye, JF-17, Block-52+, as well as participation in Red Flag, Anatolian Eagle, hosting Indus Viper, and much more.

Note...these articles must be written VERY well, i.e. I am thinking at least senior high school standards (Grade-12/A-levels/sr IB) at minimum...but preferably university-standards. Hence we're talking proper research and citations, no jingoism, etc.

I was thinking that the PAF section has a few articles, each in a specific area of concern, for example:

1. An overview of PAF in 2001-2010 - summarize the reality of 9/11, the lifting of Western sanctions, the counter-insurgency operations, and new inductions (aircraft, SSW, air defence, etc)

2. An article on the F-16, reviewing A/B history of the 1980s, the embargoes of the 1990s, and the MLU & Block-52+ saga of today.

3. An article on special mission aircraft ...covering the PAF's requirements in the 1980s, the acquisition of Erieye & ZDK03, data-link with fighters, and its significance to PAF and the region. Also cover the Falcon DA20s and possible programs, such as fighter-based EW through F-16D, JF-17, FC-20, etc.

4. An article on JF-17...its origins, its development, its early testing years, present induction and future direction. Also overview production potential, engine controversy, concern of Western systems, as well as export potential.

5. A piece on FC-20...its origins as J-10, and the PAF's need for a 4.5 generation fighter and how FC-20 accomplishes that.

6. Training...Mushak/Super Mushak, K-8 and possibility of L-15. Also discuss the nature of its academics, rigor of training, exchange students and if possible, international praise. Also discuss induction of ACMI systems, etc.

7. Multi-national and local large-scale exercises. Discuss High Mark-series, Anatolian Eagle, Red Flag, Green Flag, Indus Viper, Iron Falcon, etc. Their significance to PAF, and perhaps relate them to its duties as a conventional outfit with increasingly irregular tasks. Also discuss its increasing presence in the international arena and closeness with regional (Gulf Arab) and external (Turkey & U.S.) forces.

8. Establishment of SSW, its significance and future scope.

9. Discuss air defence: i.e. radars, SAMs, integration, data-link, etc.

All this can be found in graduate language in Alan Warnes book.
