Prime Minister K P Sharma Oli dissolved the House of Representatives on Sunday, two years ahead of its normal tenure, amid a power tussle within the ruling Nepal Communist Party.

The decision was taken at a cabinet meeting this morning at his residence after talks with party co-chairman and dissident leader Pushpa Kamal Dahal Prachanda failed.

But legal and political experts call the sudden move unconstitutional. “It’s a coup on the constitution by the executive head,” said Dr Bhimarjun Acharya, noted constitutional lawyer.

Senior leader of the NCP and former Prime Minister Jhalnath Khanal said Oli will pay the price for taking this ‘extreme and unconstitutional act’ without taking the party into confidence.

Senior leaders in the party believe this will lead to expulsion and counter expulsion of leaders followed by a split soon. There are also chances of the decision being challenged in court.

Oli’s loss of majority in crucial bodies in the party – central secretariat, standing committee and the central committee – and dissidents labelling charges of corruption against the party had pushed the infighting to a point of no return.

Opposition MPs had been contemplating moving ‘impeachment’ motion against the president which the dissolution of the House has now thwarted.

Majority of Nepalese population are pro-India and hate the Chinese. This old communist buddha thought he is the massiah and wanted to act like CCP stooge. Now the Nepalese people and political circle has shown him the door.
Where is your evidence for this pure conjecture and fantasy? Did you ask your buddies in Kathmandu??

I know folks there who tell me the opposite. I could easily argue that Oli has taken this drastic action to put the vocal minority hindutva elements firmly in their place.

A good move by Oli. Hindustan will be exposed as failed usurpers yet again.
"Indian Express" articles....what a new low.

Nepali people see india as a threat to their country like the rest of South Asia

India took Nepal land, while China share Everest with Nepal.

It's easy for China to take Everest peak as Chinese one, so that China can proudly say we have the highest mountain in the world, but China refused to do so.

Nepal knew very well that China has no intention to cross the Himalayas, what China needs is Nepal as an independent country, kick India dirty political interference out of Nepal.

While Nepal also knew very well that India is installing stooge to stop Nepal from developing.

Nepal fear India, doesn't want to be next Kingdom of Sikkim.

Nepal is just not as strong as Pakistan to fight back directly.

RAW's Failed Strike in NEPAL.However, he did not heed RAW chief; Samant Kumar Goel's muffled threats were couched as give-and-take. Let's see in the upcoming months, who (China vs India)will preserve their stake in Nepal.
