My thread regarding devising a new mechanism get into garbage discussions and subsequently closed but surely we need a new promotion system for the site. i request administrators to review the procedure for promotion.

yeah i like this idea. 1000 post or 5000 posts should not be the requirement of being promoted to Senior or Elite members group. All ranks above Full members must be promoted through consensus among the Staff members (Admins + MODs) and each member should be promoted on his/her post quality instead of # of posts. Each member should be promoted on her merit and not by number of posts. This way all users would want to make quality posts to attract the leadership of this forum and obtain promotion.

I have one more opinion that is, once you join you should be promoted step by step. I mean not direct promotion to Moderatorship out of nowhere. If you liked one Full Member's post, promote him to Senior Member's group. If his quality of posts demand more, promote him to Elite Members, if need arises, promote to Think Tank members and from their to Moderators.

This way all members would want to improve the quality of their posts and be promoted or even demoted to lower or higher group. It will also be easy to distinguish between good posters and the average posters and reduce the load of useless traffic of this site and save some bandwidth

last, you can set limit on some sections where only Senior+ or Elite+ members are allowed to post so useless debators will stay behind anyway

I agree, seniors and specially ELIT should show some good behavior. At-least follow some basic rules like sticking to topic. That should be bare minimum expectation.

People who live on to be senior members are generally not trolls, or at least haven't managed to do anything offensive for a few months and about 1000 posts.

We grant such leeway to people and hope that their transgressions are just a one off lapse in judgement.

Nonetheless, if you're deemed unfit for the forum, no matter how much of a forum celebrity you are, you'd be booted off.

Also the ranks are 50% reflective of the member's own reputation, and 50% of how we perceive that person.

We strive to filter out a lot of people but now and the some of them do slip through the cracks and we take care of them a little later - but they are always taken care of.
