Hello everyone,

I have got few questions about custom duty charges in Pakistan. I was searching on internet but could not find enough relevant information. I want to know about rates of custom charges in pakistan and do these rates apply to electronics you get for personal use for example if you get delivery of either laptop, mobiles, clothes or LCD TV from super stores in UK? I know Marks & Spencer deliver goods to Pakistan for 15 pounds.

second question is about on line shopping in Pakistan. Do you know about any good on-line electronic store which provide electronics at reasonable prices with delivery to all major cities in Pakistan ? I only know about shophive and they were good as they collect money after they bring product to your doors and their delivery is free and fast but their customer service is rubbish. I got netbook from them and they mentioned on their website that it has 6 cell battery with battery life of 8 hours but the one which i received had 3 cell battery and i had no other option but to live with it. Share your on line shopping experience in Pakistan. Any information about buying LCD/led/smart tv in Pakistan will be much appreciated..thanks :)

No! no additional charges were paid, just the price for the items that were ordered.

so if i deliver one lcd tv from UK to pakistan then i will not have to pay any custom charges? :undecided:

Secondly DHgate is even more expensive than top stores in uk for example they charge 441 pounds for 26 inch led Tv and brand of TV is also unknown :D

and same tv cost here 170-250 pounds with extra 15 pounds for international delivery :)

Try mega.pk but they only deliver in Isb/ Rwp, their prices are relatively reasonable

I checked this link before and did not got any relevant information

they could write charges of import in simple language instead of making it complicated in codes. who know what are these HS Code (Harmonized System Codes) or PCT Codes ( Pakistan Customs Tariff Codes) :D

The entire customs of the world works on HS Codes..all you need is to ask your supplier to provide you their HS Code..it is really very simple way of working! Before HS codes things were very complicated..

Actually i confirmed with them first but all they say is

All products are sold on a Delivery Duty unpaid basis, so please be aware that recipients outside the EU may have to pay
import duty or other taxes.

Please check these details before placing an order.

okay you asked too many questions. I assume you are not talking about one laptop or 2-3 mobiles phone but talking about bulk delivery..

if you want consignment to deliver, Pakistan is third biggest dumping place of laptops and computers. The custom is 5%. all you need is a man here to receive the consignment and a rat on the dry port who will get it done for some money to make the transfer easy..
some people dont bother and sell out their consignments on dryport for less profit, if you want greater margin you need to gget it sold by that man you trust here. and he needs to personally get connected with different markets in the country to sell the consignment. it would NOT work like you are thinking in your British infected mind.
Secondly giving on credit is like losing your money, unless the business usage terms are concrete and trustworthy buyers are found... which is least in my books.

now comes LCD TV. the big game, if you want bulk, its probably not an option unless you are in a big game, which you surely aren't. if you want one or two HD tv delivered you would probably have to pay custom rate that would give you no benefit at all. like even if you get your hands of 72" in some 300 Pounds, you will still have to pay custom which is about 1 lac or so.

We got my HD because AC was my friend, there are three persons who can get you concession DC/AC/Inspector if you have any AC/ DC as your friend or friend's friend he can get you concessions from all three categories of concession.

there are some Karachi base online parties that are doing a good business, they usually own a business in the same industry, such parties are doing business on fair terms.

P.S Consumer courts (fast track courts): if you have bought anything at all from anywhere at all in Pakistan, and the product is not upto the description or agreed terms you can always go to consumer court and get it fixed in no time, maximum 3 visits if its not a complicated issue. like you mentioned about the battery, you can get it done in 1-2 visit after filing the application.
